Washer Dryer Buying Guide

Here are the top 5 things you need to know when it comes to choosing your brand new washer dryer.

Capacity

Bigger drums give your clothes more room to move for a really thorough wash and dry. Ours range from 6 – 13kg.

Spin Speed

Machines with higher spin speeds remove excess water more effectively. Our models range from 1000 – 1600rpm.

Quick Wash

A quick wash saves you time when you’re in a hurry. A 30 minute cycle is ideal for giving clothes a rapid refresh midweek.

Energy Rating

The higher the efficiency rating, the more energy and money you’ll save per cycle. Our range of models are rated A – B.

Extra Features

From self-cleaning drums to whisper quiet motors, newer models are packed with tech to make chores simple.

Washer Dryer Capacity Buying Guide

Capacity

Bigger drum capacities on washer dryers are better because the extra space helps to give your clothes a more thorough wash and dry. A model with a 10kg wash capacity and above is ideal for larger households. Typically with this appliance type, the drying capacity will be slightly lower than the amount you can wash. For example, if it can wash 9kg, you’ll be able to dry 6kg.

Spin Speed

Most machines let you adjust the spin speed to help care for more delicate fabrics such as linen and silk. A higher spin speed gets rid of more water at the end of a wash. This leaves your clothes feeling damp rather than soaked. Most models have a spin speed of around 1200rpm which means the drum spins 1,200 times per minute. Look out for a spin speed of 1600rpm if you often wash bath towels, as this will remove more of the excess water.

Washer Dryer Quick Wash Buying Guide

Quick Wash

With speedy 15 and 30 minute quick washes, your clothes will be ready in no time. You can quickly clean the kids’ uniforms before school or your favourite outfit whilst you’re getting ready for a night out. Quick washes are designed for small loads of washing that aren't heavily stained. These settings are great for refreshing your clothes midweek when they can't wait for the big wash.

Energy Rating

Our washer dryers’ energy efficiency ratings range from A+ to B, depending on what model you opt for. You’ll save more energy the higher up the alphabet you go. So A+ will save a lot, and B will save you less. As well as saving energy, you save money too. Look out for washer dryers that include intelligent sensors that work out the most efficient cycle for you. This will save you energy and help you get perfectly tailored results.

Extra Features

Getting the most from your machine is easy if you use specific programmes that suit your clothes. There are special cycles for cotton, silk and knitwear, which treat them with care and leave them brilliantly clean. Heavily stained clothes come out really fresh thanks to intensive and pre-wash cycles. And, anti crease and easy-iron programmes are great if you want to cut down on ironing.
