The European Championships have taken place every four years since 1960, featuring the greatest footballing nations from across the continent. In 2016, 24 nations are taking part for the first time, up from 16 in 2012, including defending champions Spain and world champions Germany. Three home nations have also qualified - England, Wales and Northern Ireland - with the first two playing each other in one of the group stage highlights. Ten venues are hosting matches, and more than 50,000 England fans alone are due to travel to France for the games. Home team shirts are a must. Flags up.
