Combination cooking from Baumatic. The BMC450SS built-in combination microwave will not only look great in your kitchen but it’s packed with features too. There’s a huge 44 litre capacity, that's enough space to cook for a larger family. The controls are really easy to use, letting you switch between the 900W microwave, fan oven and grill. There are 13 programmes to choose from, where you simply select the food type, its weight, and then sit back while the oven does the rest. The sleek design is really compact too, with a 46cm height, meaning it’ll fit into most kitchens easily. There’s even an energy-saving half grill option, great for grilling small quantities at a time.

Pros: Value for money, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good
Cons: Complicated, no "real" manual
"This unit was bought as we downsized and took the place of an oven and separate microwave. The product itself is excellent, but the manual is abysmal - purely a "how to press the buttons to achieve various modes". Nowhere does it give real-life examples of combination cooking. Baumatic need to take a leaf out of Siemens' book - they get it right every time. My impression is that the usual manual for this model was a last-minute rushed job."

Pros: Value for money, Quiet, looks good
Cons: Complicated, unit is very deep
"Our Bosch Quantuum speed died after 8 years of heavy service and the cost to repair was prohibitive, as was the cost for a new one. We therefore chose the Baumatic 450ss. It certainly looks the part and has a decent capacity. But that is where the similarity ends. The instruction manual is awful in both content and spelling. The Bosch used English words to tell you what you were trying to cook on the preprogrammed entries, the Baumatic uses a very unhelpful P01 to P11. We have had to keep the instruction booklet close by to use it. The touchpad is not very sensitive and often requires a couple of presses to get it going. Maybe the worst feature is that the hot cooling gases (up to 85 degrees C blow straight down from the front of the appliance onto our cabinet door. In order to stop the door warping or being damaged we now leave the dootr open when using the oven. The electrical insides of the microwave generator can be seen clearly through the top slats. They supply a trivet but dont tell you what it is for and 2 grill stands which are likewise poorly described. There is no cook book or any instructions on how you might actually use the combination function, I think they expect you to guess. The unit is very deep and I had to cut the back out of my larder unit to get it to fit. The final insult is that there is no way to reset the clock without turning the electrical supply off to the unit. So all in all a massive saving over the Bosch but you get what you pay for."
