Hotpoint Experience CIC642C Built In Induction Hob - Black

A faster, more efficient cooking experience. The Hotpoint CIC642 induction hob represents the next stage in cooking. Using induction technology to heat faster and more efficiently, you get 4 cook zones with 9 different power levels. And all this is controlled via the sleek touch panel conveniently found on the front. Remember, with induction cooking, it’s the pan that’s heated, not the element. The cook zone remains cool to the touch, which means the easiest cleaning you’ll ever do for a hob.

"Brilliant hob"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good

"Purchased this hob along with the Hotpoint SH83K oven, as both items all in black and I am used to using an induction hob, in fact I actually purchased one of Hotpoint's' first induction hobs many years ago.

Very easy to install and it is so easy to use and keep clean. The boost button for two of the hobs is a real benefit. But please ensure you have the correct pots and pans, as only ones that a magnet sticks to are usable."

"Even my wife is convinced !!"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good, economical

"For over a year I have been trying to convince my wife that we should change to an induction hob. She did not believe that one would be so good, "They are expensive" she said, "I don't want to buy new pans."

Eventually she said "Go on then, have your own way", and that is a rare occasion. I ordered the Hotpoint CIC642C, praying that it would be as good as I hoped.

She is over the moon with it! She has never had such control, (except over me), instant heat and instant shut off. A perfect simmer, she can now even leave the porridge to 'burp' all alone and it will not stick or burn. And so easy to clean and keep clean.

She's even enjoying buying new pans to suit the hob!"

"Really pleased, excellent performance"

Pros: Value for money, Good build quality, looks good, rapid heating

Cons: control logic could be improved

"We've had this 6 months now, so time for a review. No technical issues at all. It is wired for two phases, we've temporarily installed it on a single phase without any issues, though we've not tried using all rings at max!! It will be installed using two phases in the kitchen once the renovation is complete.

It is very powerful, and the heatup time is very quick indeed. We are using cast iron pans and pressed steel woks, and both work very well, better than gas. We have found we don't need the settings stated, and usually use 2 or 3 levels down on the recommended.

It can be a bit noisy when the fans kick in, but no more than an extractor, which you'll probably already have on since the internal fans only come on when it is running at high levels.

The buttons are a bit close to the front rings, and it is counterintuitive to touch something so close to a boiling pan. The surface is always cold, of course, but if the pan is spitting, move it away first.

Also, having to press the ring button, then hold the minus until it switches off is a bit of a pain. I would have preferred having 10 individual buttons (0-9 levels), so just press the ring button and the required level each time.

Overall we are very pleased. It is our first induction hob, and we are impressed with performance. With a better control logic it would be 5 stars all round."

"Have always had gas so different, but looks great, easy to clean, would like option to switch off immediately individual burners rather than going down to 0."

Hotpoint CIC642C

Induction cooking is a relatively new method of heating. In time, you can expect to see it in many kitchens around the world. Hotpoint give you the CIC642C induction hob. It comes in the suave black popular to many hobs, but it seems like something you’d only find in Star Trek!

What makes induction cooking so unique and exciting is the way it heats your food. Unlike gas or electric, which heat from the bottom of the pan, induction technology produces an electromagnetic field, using the metal of the pan as a conductor. This means the whole pan is heated at the same time, so your food or water is boiled in a much faster time than conventional means.

It’s also massively more efficient compared to gas & electric, saving you not only time, but energy usage and in turn, money.

The 4 cook zones are controlled via a brilliant touch control panel. It’s all rather futuristic looking and you’ll love the 9 power levels, giving you a wide degree of control over your heating. To ensure you get the very best time management from this appliance, Hotpoint also include electronic timers for each individual cooking zone and a child lock to prevent wandering younger fingers from hurting themselves.
