"Belling Country Classic - Better than expected"
Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good
Cons: need space to open doors if oven is recessed
"I read all the reviews for this item before buying and was a little worried about the build quality. But now it has arrived I think it is fine.
It does need a 10amp electricity supply - but then all bigger cookers do.
The controls are solid enough, nothing to worry about. Easy to understand and I don’t find any of the issues that other reviewers mentioned. The dials are pretty bog standard and easy to understand. The panel where the controls sit is a slightly strange finish, it is rough and so may prove a bit difficult to clean but it looks nice at the moment.
The ceramic top is good, easily to clean and hasn't scratched even though I use my existing pans. Yes, it’s a bit all or nothing – but that is the nature of ceramic hobs. The centre ring is big enough for everything I need and hot enough. As it is positioned in the centre it is easy to fit a full size paella pan onto the stove.
The warming zone is on the left. Not sure if that bothers me or not. It is a nice extra but I don’t use it much other than as space to stand the ingredients before they go into the pan. (without the warmer on).
The right side top-oven is the fan oven and is easy to clean and fast with an even cook. My normal oven trays fit but you do have to put them in with the longest side across the oven rather than from front to back – as the oven racks have a protective upstand to stop the trays bumping into the fan.
I previously had a 1000mm oven with just one big oven – so thought I might find these ovens a bit small – but they are fine.
Fan oven is same temperature all over – so doesn’t matter which shelf you use. Means you can fit loads in at the same time.
Fan makes a noise but not loud. Enough to remind you that you have left the oven on, but not loud enough to be annoying.
The grill warms up quick and is big enough to do six slices of cheese on toast at the same time. The grill cooks slightly hotter on one side but nothing dramatic.
The glass in the doors slides upwards for cleaning – much better than the complicated screw in system my last oven had.
One slight problem – I allowed the required 5mm gap either side when measuring for the oven. I assumed this was for opening the doors and was needed for the hinge or something. But my oven is recessed into an alcove and it is difficult to full open the oven doors because they need to open wider than the 1000mm width. The handle sticks out another few inches and this bumps into my wall and stops them fully opening. Not a problem if the cooker is going into a line of kitchen cupboards but one to check if you are thinking of putting it into a Aga style farmhouse setting.
Overall, its solid and has a better build quality than the other reviews made me expect.
Fan oven is really good and temperature seems spot on."
