Product Reviews

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good

Cons: none

"This hob is easy to use, especially with the slider controls. Love the fact that each zone can be controlled with a timer. I've always used gas before, but am a real convert to induction cooking. It's really fast heating a pan of water and you have instant heat control at your fingertips. My 10 and 8 year old children help me cook a lot and they find it easy to use too. The hob does emit a small noise when it is on, but its not a problem and I like it as it tells me its working. I've had no problems cleaning any spillages. A really fantastic hob."

"So Far So Good"

Pros: Easy to use, Good build quality, good safety features

Cons: Noisy, Expensive, cleaning

"This is a good product - efficient with good safety features - particularly the "auto off".

We had the first food spillage and were initially concerned that we couldn't clear the marks. The instruction manual suggests using a glass scraper, but we were too nervous to do this.

We bought a cleaning product and after a few applications all the marks have gone. Phew! We use this daily.

When a higher power setting is used, a noise can be heard - but this is not a major issue"

"Induction Hob"

Pros: Quiet, Easy to use, Good build quality, Value for money

"a great product and worth every penny. The only issue is making sure you have magnetic saucepans but most quality units are these days. The cleaning needs a good glass cleaner to make it shine"

"As good as it gets"

Pros: Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good

Cons: none

"This Siemens electric hob has surpassed all our expectations. Having replaced 2 Stoves hobs through accidental damage we needed a better quality and stronger built hob. The Siemens hob has strong thick glass with reinforced steel edging which is where chips can occur so hopefully insurance claims are a thing of the past. The hob is stylish with finger touch controls which even my stubby fingers can manipulate. The speed at which rings with boost on can boil a pan of water is mind blowingly fast. The guide manual suggests wiping the top down with warm soapy water after use but this can leave minor streaks on the surface. We now buff the cleaned surface with a soft clean tea towel which restores the shine like new."

"second cracked siemens hob"

Cons: poor quality, Expensive

"Don't even think about installing a siemens hob if you expect it to be replaced if it cracks within 9 months.

The first time the hob cracked within 2 years of being installed the engineer came out and immediately authorised another .

The replacement glass cracked in the same place while I was boiling water on the other side - the water spilled over and there was a bang- and I was accused several times during a telephone conversation of causing the damage by impact- a decision made by a manager viewing a photograph taken on a mobile 'phone by an engineer-

This was definitely not the case as it was on the very corner of the hob near the edge of the worktop, I would have had to strike the hob deliberately.

Despite having spent over £12,000 on Siemens appliances in the last 3 years I was turned down for replacement glass on the grounds that the guarantee was up, yet this glass had only been in place for 9 months.

The hob is only used by me and only has light use but my main objection was not being believed . \Disgraceful customer relations."

Siemens IQ-700 EH975SK11E Built In Induction Hob - Black Glass

Pros: Easy to use, Good build quality, looks good

Cons: Expensive

"I bought this after ordering a ceramic in error. It has a luxury presence and would certainly recommend the 91cm width to anyone who has the space to spare. It has a chrome bevel edging which looks is quite neat it helps sit flush with the worktop which should help reduce build up of feed over time. There is room for build up at the front and back which could be reduced with some kind of filler but I don't think the chrome edging would work all round. I have not cooked it much as yet but can tell you it emits a hum when on which might put off some but I find it reassuring because there is really no other way to tell its on unless something is on the boil.

My favourite this is the control layout. Each hob is controlled by a slider and makes it clear which hob is in use. I could find no other example in its size range with such an easy layout. Those transitioning from more conventional hobs may welcome it as the layout would give them one less thing to get their head around.

Price is only negative... It is not the cheapest on offer especially given that it does not offer a true flexinduction multizone for rectangular roasting trays which I thought was a shame given other makes can offer up at a similar price range but I rationalised my choice to this hob based on the control layout being by far the best of those that made it to our shortlist."

Siemens IQ-700 EH975SK11E

For those looking to impress, the Siemens IQ-700 EH975SK11E is sure to do just that. Induction technology is the newest kid on the block. Heat is generated directly to the pan rather than the hob making the induction hob a lot faster and more energy efficient than a conventional one.

The guys at Siemens have developed touchSlider controls which not only look cool but also give you great control over the temperature of your pan and the power level is electronically displayed, nice and clearly. The 5 induction zones range in size and includes a power boost setting for the centre zone which is great if you are cooking with a wok. A timer for all the 5 zones is included so you can be sure of beautifully boiled eggs.

The Siemens IQ-700 EH975SK11E has a 2 stage residual heat indicator which will tell you the temperature of the oven even after it has been switched off, reducing down in stages to 60 degrees Celsius so that the food can be kept warm until you need it.

With automatic pan recognition, the zone will only work its magic if it senses a suitable sauce pan making it much safer than a gas or ceramic hob. For added safety it has an automatic safety switch off point and a safety lock to keep those little angel’s fingers at bay.

All in all, the Siemens IQ-700 EH975SK11E is one heck of a hob and would look perfect in your kitchen.
