"Best washing machine I have ever owned"
Pros: Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good
"I previously had a very very old AEG washing machine that sounded like it was going to shake the whole house down when it spun. Looking to replace it and having no space for a separate dryer I decided to go for the washer dryer combo that I have tended to avoid in the past.
I have read reviews that suggest that washer-dryers aren't so good at drying so you still need to hang up the clothes anyway. Well I can say that with this machine that is not the case.
Since receiving the machine last week I think I have washed everything I own, trying out every different program available and they have all been great. It is possible that having a separate dryer could dry faster, but I do find that the drying quality of this machine is superb. I have even used it to dry football kits with printed numbers despite warnings that it could damage the printing, but the low temperature dry worked well for this.
The first wash I put on was a full load of towels using the standard cotton wash at 60 degrees with drying. It told me straight away that it would take over 5 hours which shocked me, but the wash alone was about 1 hour 50 minutes, so we are talking about 3 hours to dry a full load (a lot less for smaller loads)
During the entire cycle the machine is so quiet you will find yourself wondering if it is actually still running, making it ideal to put on overnight. You can set the time delay to tell it when it should finish (not when it should start) and I can assure you even the lightest sleeper won't be disturbed by it during the night (as long as you turn off the beeps as it plays a tune when it finishes, but that is easy to turn on and off).
The drum is huge, apparently it takes 8kg for the wash, but I weighed the towels I put in and they were about 4-5kg and I felt that any more would be just squeezing too much in, so I'm not sure if my scales are wrong or if it is actually ok to squeeze stuff in. But even the 4-5kg of towels was a lot, more than I would normally expect to do in one load anyway.
I was worried about the delivery as I was told after my order but prior to the delivery that health and safety says the delivery drivers are only allowed to go up 26 stairs, but I live in a tenement with 52 stairs up 2 flights. But when the guys arrived they carried it up without batting an eyelid and installed it all within about 10 minutes, so it was a very good service.
I put down Expensive as a con, purely because at over £500 it is a lot of money, but I would say that it is worth every penny. Obviously only had it for a few days now so I can't comment on whether it will last, but the build quality is definitely a lot better than the normal Indesit/Hotpoint etc. And it looks great too."
