"SLIM LINE Fridge Freezer"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good, owners manual

Cons: freezer space (slight)

"For Plus points, this unit ticks all the boxes, only except that the freezer is slightly smaller than I envisaged. This is the 55cm unit which I need to fit in a narrow space. Though on the outside, the freezer is of similar size to the fridge, its internal dimensions are less. The difference is fairly small and the thicker walls only reflect on the quality that Hotpoint have built in, and for all I know, make it cheaper to run, and quieter too. The quality becomes apparent once the unit is 1) switched on, 2) levelled up (by means of a hand-turned nut on the front left foot), and 3) given a bicarb of soda soluton (not included) wipe over of its inside surfaces. Levelling is easy, especially if help is at hand to slightly tilt the unit. Levelling IS a must, but once done, the unit feels sturdy (just as well because the door suction is particularly strong!) Important: as the door opens, it doesn’t hinge out to more than the width of the unit (I’ve seen one brand in a shop that does this). Food can be loaded after only a few hours. Some descriptions don’t make it clear, but the FFAA52S DOES come with safety glass. “Safety” is subtlely etched into the shelves themselves. . The interior light has a dimmer, which is a nice touch, and it goes off if you leave the door open too long: both things prove the old question: does the fridge door light really go off when you close it!! The auto-defrost cycle works brill and I can see from the back wall it has everything under control. My fridge thermometer shows a mid setting on the unit’s thermostat works fine. Finally, the operating instructions – don’t usually excite, but they are particular good. They are short as they come only in English, and the print is of decent size, so you may not need your reading glasses! Pictures are included. Instructions are really clear. They inc genuinely interesting food storage/management tips, Also Cleaning, and how to Register for warranty - all covered in one slim booklet. The fridge freezer? Its great. I love it already!!"

"Problem with changing the doors"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Quiet, looks good

Cons: Complicated

"The product works well and it is pretty quiet despite the fact it is a frost free freezer which always makes more noise than a non frost free one. It also looks good. However the major problem we had was changing the doors around. We had to get a hack saw to some plastic to saw out a slot and drill some more holes for the self tapping screws. The reason - the back metal casing had been fitted incorrectly and the screw holes to match the hinges were in the wrong place both top and bottom. This was not easy as I had to drill the holes to the correct diameter so that the self tapping screws would actually screw in and hold the hinges."

"Smart looking capable fridge freezer"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, looks good

Cons: Noisy

"Doing the kitchen up so needed to get shot of our old unit! Decided on this as we were wanting a silver unit that was frost free and would fit in limited space! This fitted the bill perfectly!! Arrived and as was described and fitted in the hole! Powered up and its a wee bit noisier than I was expecting when the compressor kicks in, but hey, its by no means loud - just noisier than our old model. All in all a great machine thats doing the job fine!"

"Really Good Purchase"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, looks good

Cons: Noisy

"I am really please with this fridge freezer. Loads of room in the freezer - and the fridge is a good size too. Do agree with previous reviews that its just missing a wine rack. The fan can be quite noisy but not a problem if you have a separate kitchen."

Hotpoint FFAA52S Fridge Freezer

The Hotpoint FFAA52S in silver offers you an alternative to your standard white fridge freezer. At 54.4cm wide, it’s slimmer than most on the market, so it’s the perfect choice if you don’t have much room in your kitchen. It has recessed handles too, so you won’t have anything bulky jutting out.

In the fridge you’ve got 150 litres of space spread across 2 shelves. They’re adjustable, so you can easily make room for taller items like casserole dishes. You’ll also get 2 salad drawers at the bottom. Pop your fruit and vegetables in here to stop them from getting squashed by bulky ready meals. There’s even storage in the door, perfect for things like bottles, jam jars and cheese.

Below in the freezer you’ve got 75 litres of space spread across 3 drawers and 1 pull down flap. They’re all see through, so you’ll have no trouble seeing what you’ve got inside. 2 of the drawers have ice trays built in to the front, so you won’t need to waste space with big bags of ice.

This model is frost free, so you’ll never have to waste time defrosting again. This also means that its A+ energy efficiency won’t decrease over time, as the appliance won’t have to overwork to get rid of unwanted ice. It’ll always cost an average of £33.13 a year to run.
