Product Reviews

"Stylish and Efficient"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good, double oven; countdown timer

Cons: none

"I only have space for a 55 inch width cooker but with a family of 4 adults I took a long time to make sure I chose the most efficient one. I have not been disappointed. It looks great and having a double oven and countdown timer is brilliant. It allows you to cook more things at the same time and thus makes this cooker very good value for money. The grill in the upper oven toasts things evenly and quickly and it's quick and easy to wipe down. The glass lid also provides a bit extra worktop space when it's not in use. It does throw out a lot of heat if you have both ovens and the hob working but that doesn't bother me - I just open the window. All in all, 10/10"

"As expected"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, looks good

Cons: the grill pan

"Good build quality, but two small niggles. The grill pan is a tight fit and does not easily slide into place. The safety ignition often takes two or more attempts to get going."

"Small but Mighty"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, looks good

Cons: none

"This may not be the largest cooker on the market, but it makes up for it by having a double oven. This cooker is a bit smaller than our previous one, but we still manage to cook a full Sunday dinner for our family of six. The cooker is easy to keep clean, and the layout of the control buttons is easy to get used to."

"Hotpoint HUG52G"

Pros: looks good

Cons: poor markings on dials, grill poor in centre

"Grillis a poor design, large area in centre with no flame so if toasting a single slice of bread you need to place it to one side of the centre. Cannot see how it can grill large items evenly.

Darker grey cooker colour with black writing under control knobs makes it hard to read."

Hotpoint HUG52G

The HUG52G gas cooker from Hotpoint is something of a dark horse. It has 41 litres in the main cavities for conventional cooking and 19 litres in the top space for variable grilling, but it also comes with an array of pretty slick features to add to its repertoire.

The 4 gas powered burners on the hob are surrounded by enamel pan supports for stability and easy cleaning and all this power is controlled by the panel at the front of the unit.

The hob comes with a flame failure safety device which can detect when the flame goes out and so cuts off the gas accordingly, saving any waste and making your kitchen safer.

Inside the oven are the catalytic liners. These are pretty impressive. When cooking at high temperatures they oxidise any grease or dirt that has built up inside the cavity so you can actually cook your oven clean. How cool is that?

It’s worth noting that this is a conventional oven. This means that the hottest part of the oven is the top (as heat rises) and so you can a slight variation in intensities within the oven. This is ideal for baking type cooking and because the fuel is natural gas which has moisture in it, you can really lock in the moisture in your food. Top results are a certainty.
