Indesit Advance IT50GW Freestanding Gas Cooker - White

Great for a smaller kitchen. At 50cm wide, the Indesit IT50GW is one of the slimmest cookers on the market, so it’s ideal for a smaller kitchen. It’s gas, so you’ll get an instant response from the 4 burner hob- you won’t be waiting all day for a bowl of soup. You’ve got a 19 litre grill at the top, which is the perfect size for a few steaks or chicken breasts. At the bottom there’s the 41 litre conventional oven, which is great for making things like a Sunday roast. You can put the potatoes at the top where it’s hotter and the meat at the bottom to keep it succulent and tender.

Product Reviews

"good value"

Pros: Quiet, Easy to use, Good build quality, Value for money

Cons: controls difficult to read, protective covering difficult to remove

"This was bought to replace my mother's 30 year old lpg cooker. She's disabled but manages to light & use everything, now she's got the hang of it. The oven switch has the Mark numbers underneath, which means she (and I) have to bend down to read them. Why not on the knob itself, to be read off against an arrow on the body of the cooker...? The plastic protective covering, although removed by the gas fitter, was very difficult to remove and still has the odd bit left, here and there - annoying, but it wraps around the individual panels. Other than that, a great cooker"

"Good for the price.."

Pros: Quiet, Value for money, simple

"... but some annoying features:

1. The plastic covering it came in has been the very devil to remove completely, resulting in a hot plasticky smell even 6 months later.

2. The time needed to hold the knob in, once ignition has occurred, seems a lot longer than the handbook suggests.

3. Having to drop your head to waist-level to read the Gas mark under the knob is not practical for my elderly mother... so it's guesswork for her! Why not put the numbers on the knob, to be lined up with an arrow ABOVE the knob?"

"Highly Recommended !!!"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good, cooks/bakes as required, light in oven - great addition, safety mechanism with ignition, great results - happy family

"I have to say I selected this cooker with some reluctance having read the previous feedback. However, I am hasten to add how thoroughly happy I am with the choice I had made. It is a good size and easy to clean. The size of oven and grill are spacious and by no means small. It is a studry build and an attractive addition to our new kitchen. The light that remains on throughout cooking and use of the oven is a wonderful feature - we like to bake and now no need to open door to check on rise etc. We always preheat and so far have been happy with temperature and results from both cooking and baking. The merringue for the pavlova has been the best yet!!! Installation was quick and the self adjusting legs alllowed the fitter to level the applicance perfectly despite my slightly uneven floor. Indeed I would highly recommend this particular cooker !!"

"Good value for money"

Pros: Easy to use, Good build quality, Value for money

"Ignition button needs holding in for several seconds, especially when using the smallest burner.

Oven retains heat well, without exterior becoming too hot.

Oven marks after 7 don't seem to have much effect, so if a high level of gas is required, 7 seems to be maximum, control knob doesn't seem to turn any further and markings are so close together, there is minimal distinguishing between ratings."

"Good but BEWARE"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet

Cons: poor detail in listing.

"As far as cookers go, this is as good as any I've ever bought. It's sleek, works well and does its job. The grill pan seems a little cheap and tacky and is a bit clumsy to use but that's not the end of the world.

But bear this in mind before you buy. The gas pipe is mounted on the right and if your gas connection point is not, this cooker will not push right back into a tight fit to the wall. I have a 30mm gap. More importantly, THIS COOKER REQUIRES A MAINS ELECTRICITY SUPPLY for the ignition system. The cooker has a 3pin plug. This is not made clear in the details of the cooker description. I had to take out half of my kitchen to install an additional ring main socket. Fortunately, I could do this myself very cheaply, but it could cost you dear for an electrician.

Overall, it's a good product but not well described in the listing."

"Good basic cooker"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality

Cons: grill guard

"This cooker is excellent value for money, easy to clean and pretty efficient. Holding the knobs in for a few seconds when lighting is a bit disconcerting at first but is a safety feature so OK.

The removable grill guard is strange, why not make the controls heat-proof?

Overall, I'm pleased with it and would recommend it."

Indesit IT50GW Gas Cooker

With its classic white finish, the Indesit IT50GW will look great in a minimalistic kitchen, especially if you have other white appliances. At just 50cm wide, it’s ideal if you’re a bit short on space too. At the top you’ve got a 4 burner gas hob, which will give you an instant controllable flame. This is great as you’ll know exactly how much heat you’ve got, plus you won’t have to wait all night for beans on toast. If you spill something there’s no need to panic, as the enamel pan supports are really easy to clean.

Below the hob you’ve got the 19 litre grill. It’s the perfect size for making a few healthy chicken breasts or tasty steaks. Thanks to the simple controls on the front it’s really easy to use too.

At the bottom is the 41 litre conventional oven. It’s hotter at the top than it is at the bottom, which makes it great for cooking different things at the same time. If you’re cooking a roast dinner you can pop the potatoes at the top to make them nice and crispy and put the meat at the bottom to keep it tender and succulent.
