Product Reviews

"Does it put the baby to bed?"

Pros: Good build quality, huge range of functions, impressive performance

Cons: Complicated, Expensive, design won't please everyone

"This is a one-stop shop of a cooking device. It does everything imaginable, and then some. I mean, we know about the microwave/grill/oven combo functions and crisping capability, but have you ever come across steaming in a microwave for example? Wow!

The justification for the price tag though relates to the "6th sense" programmes, which take a few pieces of information and calculate the right combination of cooking methods, time and power to deliver a perfect result. Incredibly enough, 6th sense turned a frozen pizza into a crisp, hot cooked pizza with minimum fuss in around 8 minutes.

True, you will sometimes have to play around with the features to get the right results, but the flexibility of the device gives you the capability of doing pretty much anything."

"Whirlpool Jet Chef"

Pros: too early to say

Cons: see text

"The microwave oven/grill/steamer/convection oven seems fine. It is quick. However the instructions and recipes are hopeless. There is new technology in this appliance with very little help as to how to use it, and it is not intuitive. For example the most basic of microwave dishes - a baked potato - can be cooked using 3 different methods but there is no help as to which to use or how long each method takes. More complex dishes will present even greater problems unless there is a recipe in one of their two recipe books (one of which was not supplied with the machine and had to be requested - and is only available online). I have reservations for this reason."

"Poor Instuctions"

Pros: Good build quality, looks good

Cons: Complicated, Noisy

"We were delighted when the product arrived with how it looked and all the available functions available. We were very disappointed to find that the instructions for use were almost non existent and there were virtually no recipes. We have owned earlier microwave from Whirlpool and do not understand why the literature provided with this model is so poor compared to previous models. It really has taken the gloss off what could have been an excellent purchase. We would recommend that Whirlpool send out clear and revised literature to all customers who have purchased this product."

"Big-Dark and Automatic."

Pros: Value for money, Good build quality, looks good, extremely versatile

Cons: Complicated, Noisy

"I've had my whirlpool super dooper oven for a few weeks now and I think I've finally cracked it. Visually it's quite imposing, and looks very 'cool' on my kitchen counter. It's an intelligent machine and can do so much more than any other microwave oven that I've had thus far. I have a theory that all product manuals are written and translated by visiting foreign students as part of their coursework and this is why they are all very oddly put together and not user friendly. The whirlpool manual takes some getting used to at first but I find if you keep the manual close to hand it all 'clicks' after a while. I used the 'Recipe Cook Guide' to guide me through some of the dishes that I've cooked as it tells you more simply what function to use. The manual contains very clear simplistic diagrams to help you choose which size wire rack to use etc and since I've had my new Whirlpool oven I haven't used my built in oven at all. I don't own a toaster so I literally use it for Everything. I haven't tried the steam function yet but I made homemade pizza and it was the crispest crust I've ever made. The oven is extremely deep and I'm quite a titch and feel as though I'm disappearing into it every time I wipe down it's cavity. I have to say, I Love my new oven, it does everything it says and more, it's certainly worth spending the time getting to know it, the rewards are delicious and perfectly cooked food."

"Best microwave ever"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, looks good, no noisier than any other microwave

Cons: none

"Had this microwave for 2 weeks now and love everything about it. Although some reviews I read before buying it said the instructions were a bit difficult and it lacked recipes, both my husband and I have had not had any difficulty using it. It has been one of the best purchases ever. I have used this oven as a conventional fan forced oven - perfect results for everything! The crisp function - baked a homemade pizza (large, thick crust) in 12 mins - perfect again. Used the combination of forced air, crisp and microwave - great results. Heated a frozen pasty - hot right through, crisp, no soggy microwave pastry insight, using the 6th sense reheat function. Perfect roasts spuds too. I could go on and on. Absolutely fabulous."

Whirlpool JT369/MIR

The JT369/MIR microwave from Whirlpool is the marriage of the most up-to-date technology and the speed and efficiency of convenience cooking, lovingly rolled together into a stunning and unique package.

Who’d have thought you could get steam cooking from your microwave? With the JT369/MIR it’s easier than you think. The 6th sense steam technology is perfect for vegetables and fish, allowing you to keep all the nutrients and vitamins where they should be. Healthy eating is now easier than ever.

Next is the unique crisp function. The crisp plate, 3D microwave system and the quartz grill all work together to help you achieve the tastiest, crunchiest food you can. The high temperatures mean you can get great baking and frying too. Tell your cooker to move over, there's a new favourite appliance in town.

Forced air is another innovative function on the JT369/MIR. This uses a fan in the back wall of the microwave oven to push air around the heating elements and into the cavity from every direction. You get a speedy cook, but more importantly, a wonderfully even cook too. No more rogue raw centres.
