"Smart, Sleek, Solid; A Pleasure to Use"
Pros: Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good
"Opening up the door to this fridge-freezer, even the tallest of bottles feels secure and in no danger of toppling. Inside, four removable glass shelves, a lipped bottom shelf (ideal for safely placing raw meat or items with the potential to leak) and two salad drawers offer lots space. Although narrower than shelves in a standard fridge-freezer, these seem slightly deeper and can be arranged to suit you. If you like to organise your food so you can keep on top of shopping, this fridge is a dream: having those extra shelves makes separating food simple and allows you to see need to buy at a glance. The contents are brightly illuminated by a powerful light which runs from the top to the around the mid point of the fridge.
Mirroring the fridge, albeit with narrower shelving, the freezer has removable shelves which can be arranged to suit you, sturdy shelving in the door and two drawers at the bottom. These drawers can be replaced with a shelf (provided) if you prefer, although I like the drawers as they provide contained storage for open bags which can spill open. If you have had a small freezer within a standard fridge-freezer, as I have, you will have experienced removing half the contents to locate that one odd ice cream at the back; here, as with the fridge, the generous shelving and drawers provide at-a-glance appraisal of the contents. Frost-free, so easy to clean, the freezer is also very well illuminated.
This fridge-freezer can be plumbed into the drinking water supply to offer icy cold water instantly via the dispenser on the front. A bonus of this is that, by switching on the optional ice-maker function, it will also automatically prepare you a generous store of ice. The ice-maker is housed on the inside of the freezer door, where the ice cubes are tipped into the attached ice bucket as they are made (and if you are unfamiliar with an ice maker, do not be startled by the sound the ice makes as it tumbles into the bucket) and this can then be dispensed in cubes or crushed. If your experience of ice-cube making is anything like mine (constantly making ice in summer, spilling water as you attempt to carry the trays to the freezer, only to discover there is no room in there to store them flat etc), you will be enamoured of the ice maker function. If not, simply switch it off, remove the ice bucket and place the alternative shelf you receive in the space.
As someone who is not a fan of endless program options, I was pleasantly surprised by the touch panel. It is a doddle to use and the programs on offer are useful; Power Freeze - for those days the shopping has been in the car a bit longer than desired - gives a boost to help freeze food fast, Child Lock prevents tiny fingers adjusting the settings on the touch panel, and individual temperature controls for the freezer and fridge require nothing more than tapping until you get to the temperature you would like. There is also a Vacation setting which I suspect is a power-saving mode to keeps the fridge cool when it will not be used as usual. Unfortunately, however, the manual was rather vague on this so I guess I will find out for sure if I use it!
If nit-picking, I could complain that there is no wine bottle holder but doing this just feels daft with an appliance that is smart, sleek and simple-to-use. Almost everything is removable for easy cleaning, the build is sturdy and, unless you have had the doors open a while, the machine barely makes a sound. Details, such as the generous lighting, alternative shelving and smart touch panel, reflect an attention to detail which makes this attractive appliance a pleasure to use."
