"Great but door reversal nightmare"
Pros: Good build quality, looks good
Cons: door reversal difficult, instructions difficult to read
"I am very pleased with this - it really looks very nice and puts other appliances to shame. My only gripe is with the door reversal procedure and the instructions were not great and printed on what looked like used toilet paper. If this was meant to be an environmental step then it completely failed as the door reverse instructions were impossible to see. I had to print out on much larger paper and even then the diagrams were not clear.
Firstly you need a load of tools including some which many people will not have. The other thing is that there are some replacement parts which could easily be missed. First part was in the box and nearly got thrown away. Second part was hidden on the underneath of the freezer top cover but clamped so at first sight looked like it was integral to the top cover.
The actual reversal of hinges was quite easy. It was some of the other procedures which were difficult. Notably the first one which involved removing the top of the freezer to access the hinge bolts. The instructions said remove wires but there was one wire which was cable tied to it and in such a manner making removal of the tie very difficult. I left it in place but it was then impossible to move the cover out the way, which made the final stages difficult.
The most frustrating thing for me was the removal and replacement of the top door wire cover. This on face value didn't look difficult but I ended up breaking it to remove it, then breaking the replacement in an attempt to get it in. I am considering asking Samsung for a replacement as I believe this is unnecessarily difficult to remove and replace. It has slots in which I suppose you're meant to prise it off, but it had no effect. I ended up ruining it to get it off, but as I was replacing it with an opposite facing piece I wasn't too bothered. However the new one I snapped an end of trying to get it in. Not happy. I am quite skilled at such things so I don't think this is easy enough for a consumer to do. Of course samsung absolve themselves from such damage suggesting that you get a qualified technician to do it. Then why even bother giving instructions?
The rest of the reversal was ok. Basically involves moving everything that is on the left over to the right, and in many cases reversing them so they are an exact mirror image of the original configuration. Not difficult. The part I was expecting to be the most intimidating was not at all. This was the door seals. They just didn't feel like they were meant to be removed although they not only came off without too much trouble, but went back on after rotating them. It would probably help if Samsung explained the purpose of this. I can only guess that the hinge side of the seal is more compact than the open end.
I think the procedure could be much improved as could the ease of access to things like the wire panel. Why they don't use a couple of screws for this is beyond my comprehension.. The instructions were difficult to read on the recycled garbage paper they used requiring printing from an online manual I found.
If you need to reverse the door allow up to 2 hours and prepare to be patient. Other than that it looks good and time will tell if it was a good purchase"
