Product Reviews

"Not bad for the money"

Pros: Value for money, looks good

Cons: poor quality

"On the surface this looks like a nice oven. The problem we had was with what you dont see. The feet are flimsy at best and one of ours was broken. Our plumber fixed it up as best he could because I didnt want to pay another call out charge for him to fit a second cooker. The front panel buttons are the same as my old Leisure cooker and will gunge up in time. The front controls are also very cheap and nasty, and I imagine will not last the 15 years, this cooker is built for."

"not good quality"

Pros: looks good

Cons: poor quality, Expensive

"We purchased this smeg cooker in 2011 and so far 2 years later have not had a clear 6 months of the cooker working properly. First the second oven stopped working then the thermostat broke now the main cooker door is faulty. We have been given extended warranty as the cooker has never worked but are now coming to the end of it with yet another fault. The cooker does look good but is not good for much else. I would never buy SMEG again."

"Best cooker purchase ever"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good

Cons: none

"This lovely piece of kit has generated Cooker Envy amongst all my friends and has surpassed my own expectations several times over. I had become so used to an old and inefficient cooker that I have had to learn to cook all over again with this beast.

It looks fantastic -a really lovely thing to own and have in the kitchen. It performs as well as it looks. I've only had it a few weeks so can't yet comment on longevity but all the features it claims to have work exceptionally well. The gas ring control knobs are sensitive and very finely adjustable, and are easy to use in action -clever designs. The heat they rings put out is very good and makes griddling a steak in a Le Creuset griddle pan finally possible

The three ovens all perform their wide variety of functions exactly as they are meant to. Preheat time is only a few minutes and they all cook very efficiently. Remember to set the oven temp to 10% below intended when using the fan function. Everything external stays comfortably cool in use.

A few must-dos:

DO get a qualified electrician and approved gas fitter lined up on the day of installation. I thought the cooker was plug-in, as one of the pics showed a standard mains plug on a cable sticking out of the back,. with plenty of cable on it. In reality there ie ONE INCH of cable sticking out of the back and it is necessary to fit thick heavy-duty big grey flat cable like one usually finds in the walls of houses -sorry I don't know the spec but it is in the product info. This needs to be fitted to the terminals inside the cooker so the back has to be removed (about 10 screws hold the back on).

The gas inlet is on the left of the back of the cooker (or right if you are standing behind it) so if your existing cooker has a feed on the right of the machine (as you stand in front of it) you may need a longer gas hose fitted (I did).

DO use AO's disposal service which at £9.99 is a bargain -but you will need your gasman in to disconnect the old cooker first and cit off the electrical cable if there is one.

Once your new treasure is installed, run all the ovens for 2 hours at top temp to burn off the smell that appears on first use, which would taint your food. The smallest oven must not be on for more than 30 mins continuously (it is a grill really) so you may have to repeat the cooking-off procedure for this one.

I am really really happy with this cooker which, so far, is everything it says it is, and much more than I had hoped for in terms of efficiency and ease of use.

Service and communications from AO were first-rate and I will definitely use them again when I next need to replace an appliance."
