Beko WMB81241LW Freestanding Washing Machine - White

A great sized drum for a family. The Beko WMB81241LW holds up to 40 T-shirts in the 8kg drum at once. Great for doing the weekly wash in one go. The Eco clean option saves you up to 70% on wash costs against other machines. It also has an impressive A+ energy rating – costing you around £3.60 a month to run. And there’s a 14 minute Xpress wash to help you save time on smaller loads. Fantastic when you need an outfit ready in a dash.

Product Reviews

"Very Satisfied"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality

Cons: none

"After doing my research I settled on the Beko WME7247, which had fantastic reviews, a large load capacity and the large porthole door. However, when I was ready to purchase, it had been discontinued and not available anywhere.

And I am so glad! Now I have the new model and am very pleased with it. Does everything the 7247 did and more. The drum is enormous, which saves time and money, it has an Eco wash program, a 30 minute quick wash program, a baby and toddler program, A duvet program and many more. It automatically adjusts for half load and you can adjust the temperature and spin speed. It's not super quiet but not overly noisy either. Though the spin may irritate if you have an openplan kitchen/lounge. The only thing I don't like is that you may only adjust the spin down and not up. If a wash program is set spin at 1200 I can adjust down to 1000 but not up to 1400.

Overall though I am very pleased I bought this model."

"Very good machine for the money"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, looks good, quiet when washing, all 4 feet can be adjusted, uses little water when washing, automatic half load sensor, large drum

Cons: a little bit noisy/squeal on spin, programme knob cannot be pushed in, cheap feel to the soap drawer, no audible buzzer/jingle when wash finished, water lies at bottom of door gasket after wash

"Just got this machine - First impressions so far:

Machine is good looking and wont look out of place in a kitchen or utility room, build quality looks good except for the soap dispenser drawer feels 'plasticky' and cheap feel. I agree with others about the sticking out control knob this would have been nicer of it was a push in push out knob so that when it was pushed in when not in use and would make the facia look aesthetically better looking and of course not be tempting for 'little fingers' to turn!

The machine is quiet when washing and spinning I have heard a lot louder machines - however I cannot help thinking how much quieter it would be if only Beko had replaced the original motor which has carbon brushes with a design of that of a brushless induction motor which are very quiet and maintenance free (would never have to replace the brushes on the motor) - I had a hotpoint super silent washer before with a brushless induction motor fitted and once you have tried one of them all other washing machines which uses carbon brushes will sound loud especially when spinning - Of course if Beko were to include a brushless induction motor then this no doubt would push up the price considerably of the machine.

There is no audible buzzer/signal on this washing machine when it comes to the end of the was which is a shame and they have included it on a Beko tumble dryer we have and it can be enabled and disabled such a shame they didnt add it to this machine.

I hope we get many years out of this Beko washer but even if it doesnt last long not all is lost because the original purchase price is very good for all the features it has. Still havent fathomed out can you get lower temperature than 20 degress (like 15 degrees) and i personally dont think you can it seems to go to 20 degrees and then to zero when selecting temperature, same with rpm spin speed I cannot get it to go lower than 400rpm, after 400rpm it just goes to 'no spin' instead of 300rpm and so on.

I cannot believe how little water this Beko Machine uses on daily quick wash with a full load, is that good as its economical or is it bad that with less water the clothes are not washed thourough I can decide, bit when it comes to rinse the water fills almost halfway up the door. In comparison to my previous Hotpoint (which wasnt ancient only 5 years old) when washing and rinsing the water at least came up to the lip of the rubber door gasket and didnt fill up halfway up the door when rinsing.

Only other gripe really is that after a wash quite a bit of water is left lying at the bottom of the door gasket even though there are holes there and you would think it would drain away but it doesnt, the instructions tell you to wipe away the water that has collected after every wash, and I say it would be a recommendation to stick to that as if that pool of water was just left there I could see it starting to get stagnant and smell and produce mould on the rubber door gasket, how many people will wipe it after every use is another matter and really it could have been designed better to drain away from the door gasket.

one last thing be careful of a little black rubber pipe at the bottom of the machine where the pump filter door is, this is called an 'emergency drain pipe' - now on my particular machine this was resting on the floor after installation of the machine in its place, I would be cautious over time that this pipe could rub on the tiled floor surface and over time friction from the machine washing and spinning could wear a hole in the rubber pipe and you could end up with a pool of water all over your floor and have to replace the pipe, when I get a chance I might see if I can use a cable tie just to lift it up a bit so as its not rubbing on the kitchen floor tiles.

thats really all I can say at the moment I hope all the points I have raised helps you decide whether to buy the machine or not but to be honest I personally cannot see you finding another make of machine with so many features for so little money."

"So Far, So Good!"

Pros: Easy to use, useful programs

"I had to replace my beloved Candy Go, after only 2 years, bought to replace my previous Candy which had lasted 13 years!! I saw all the great reviews for the Beko machines, and thought I'd give them a. go. I can't believe that I ordered it on Saturday afternoon, and it was delivered on Sunday lunchtime.

First impressions are, it's a great washing machine. It has a Self-Clean program, 2 Daily Quick programs for 2kg and 8 kg of washing, and and extra Rinse and Spin. 16 programs in total, but to be honest, I tend to only use a quick wash, except for bed linens and P.E and Training kit! It has a 1200 spin, would have preferred 1400, but I've read elsewhere on here that a 1400 can wear out the bearings quicker, so who knows?

It's washing now, and I can't hear much through the kitchen door. It is a bit hissy when it's taking in rinse water.... It's not too noisy when it spins, I can still hear the radio!

I've only done a few washes, but seems great so far. Great washer for a great price

I'll post again when I've used it more."

"revolution in washing"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, Good build quality, Quiet, looks good

Cons: none

"This washing machine is a great all round appliance for any family. I love the delay time and the display as to how long is left to run on the cycle. It is quite and manages all loads. I had a 5 kg machine before and this takes nearly double which has reduced my use so is saving me money. The temperature of the wash can be controlled on most of it's cycles so I haven't moved it from 'quick wash' since I have had it. This machine is value for money and the 'Beko' make it definitely up and coming in household appliances as this is the third appliance I have in this make and all are standing the test of time. The only minor grumble if I had to find one is the detergent drawer which isn't as fluid as it could be when opening and closing but I would be reaching to say it is a fault of the appliance."

"Great purchase"

Pros: Value for money, Easy to use, looks good

Cons: minor (as stated)

"My old machine achieved sixteen years of service before giving up, so I actually had very little idea about washing machines when it came to purchasing a new one. The starting point for me was my budget, and the next step was to find the best machine within that budget.

Logic dictated that it was probably wiser to go for a machine with a lot of reviews, meaning that it was a popular choice, rather than a machine with an absolute top score and just one or two reviews. This particular washing machine had over a hundred reviews and a rating of 4.7 out of 5, so this was a definite starter for me. The large 8kg drum and 1200rpm spin speed were also good news as my old Nexus had been 4.5Kg and 800rpm respectively. Comparing prices, the Beko left others way behind as the best value machine available (at that time), so I took a deep breath and purchased one.

It is now a couple of months down the line and I can say that overall I am very pleased with my choice. This machine is very easy to use with a good array of programs, most of which I haven't even used, as the "Daily Quick" setting achieves excellent results for around 90% of my washing requirements, and "Mixed Fabrics" or "Synthetics" deals superbly with the more heavily soiled items such as towels etc. A few of the remaining programs have a cycle time between of 2-3 hours but I cannot imagine why you would need to wash anything for that length of time.

I think the most pleasing aspect of this machine is its sheer good looks, it looks so much more expensive than it cost. It is reasonably quiet during the wash cycle with the loudest sounds being an electrical type humming noise which is consistent with the rotation of the drum, also the sloshing sound of the water, which is much quieter when the machine has more contents. The spin cycle would be quiet, if it wasn't for the soap drawer rattling away when on the highest spin speed of 1200rpm. This is caused by "top end" shake of the machine which seems a little excessive and occurs when the drum has anything other than a small washload. The only other minor niggle is the small pool of water which is left lying just inside the door and contained within the rubber seal which has to be mopped up after every wash. This may be a design fault as there is a drain hole through the seal, though not sited low enough to be fully effective.

Would I recommend this machine to a friend? Yes is the answer. Overall it seems great so far. A couple of small niggles I know but then this is probably true of any make or model within any price range. With the larger drum, I now do fewer washes and with the "Daily Quick" wash cycle of around 45 minutes, everything is done in no time at all. Just compare the specification of this model against other more expensive machines and you will see that it is on a par with many of them, so why pay lots more?"

Beko WMB81241LW

The Beko WMB81241LW is excellent for saving money. For loads up to 15 T-shirts, the Eco Clean cycle only uses 70% of the energy you’d use for a normal wash. While also giving your laundry a thorough clean. And the WMB81241LW has an A + energy rating – so it’s only going to cost you £44 a year to run.

When you need to get lots of laundry done at once, you’ve got an 8kg drum which washes up to 40 T-shirts in one go. It’s also really handy when you’re changing sheets, as it’ll take the duvet cover, sheet and pillowcases of your double bed quite happily. For smaller laundry loads, the WMB81241LW automatically reduces energy and water used – so you save a little extra money.

If you just need an outfit ready, then the Xpress quick wash is fantastic. In just 14 minutes it’ll have a small load washed. Another great time saver is the Anti-Crease programme. The drum slowly rotates and loosens your clothing, so ironing is a lot easier and quicker. Drying your clothes is made a lot quicker thanks to the 1200 rpm spin. By removing excess water, the dampness is considerably reduced.

The modern LCD display gives you loads of handy information. It’ll tell you how long your cycle will last, spin speed and temperature – so you know exactly where you’re at with your wash. There’s also a 24 hour delay timer. This is brilliant for letting you plan your wash around your life. You can even save money by setting to run at night when electricity is cheaper.

Even the Self-Clean cycle saves you a chore. It flushes away any fluff or minor debris, should it build up – keeping your machine in top condition. All you do is run it once a month.
