"A Good buy, with some shortfalls"
Pros: Value for money, Good build quality, looks good
"Firstly, this unit DOES dry clothes. I read all the reviews where it was declared that it fails to dry anything and it's not true. However, I didn't even run the machine without changing the default "dryness" setting from the minimum it is set to on delivery, to one short of the maximum as recommended by some other users. I have noted that my wife thought the washing was damp when it had finished, but this is in reality more a relative situation as our old dryer was left on for a given period until the clothes were DRY. That meant they came out baked to a crisp, literally. This machine stops just short of the "dry" point, leaving a bit of moisture in the fabric which is better for the fabric and ironing! It means for towels the edging cord sometimes feels very slightly damp, whilst the towel is dry, but fractionally cool to touch. (Cupboard Dry Cottons setting, default dryness could be increased by one more setting.)
The machine runs reasonably quietly, some strange noises as it cleans itself but generally fantastic in our utility room. The feet adjust, so an uneven floor is not a problem. The drawer holds the condensed water and is easy to access, it's also cleverly shaped to allow a bit of angle on it when you put it in for the first few inches, it's quite long.
The door, is a shame. The glazed door shape is not symmetrical, so you can't reverse the door. That would have been nice. The door is also double glazed and the outer window protrudes slightly from the front, it has a slight bulge. This isn't a problem but I can foresee it picking up scratches, as it's the first thing to get hit.
The program selection is very simple, the beeper quite good and volume adjustable. There is no "pause"... I do struggle with the programmes, you don't just set it going as it needs to sense the dryness. Maybe it's a male thing. I have a choice of various settings, which makes me think towels should have their own category, but I have cottons, easy care, sports, wool, delicates, mixed, quick and timed. I am left pondering... cottons, yeah? A dummies guide lookup on the front of the machine especially for the male of the species would be nice for the likes of me. What about synthetics, the old "cool" setting? Delicates? easy care? The old cool and warm as shown on the garment could be more easily translated on the dial.
It looks well make, very happy. When you start the machine it does indicate 3hrs to complete. this is before the machine has taken a reading with it's sensor to see how wet the clothes are. As soon as it gets some heat going and takes a reading of the moisture content in the warm air the number drops often by over 50-60%."
