Attractive looking appliance with an abundance of features

First impressions mean a lot and this model certainly didn't disappoint - it has taken pride of place in our busy kitchen! The Oven boasts 8 cooking settings in addition to a fast heat up setting and pyrolytic cleaning setting. All but one of the functions can be utilised straight from installation and unfortunately it's the steam oven function which can't - this requires additional accessories and they aren't included with the appliance (Steam applicator and dietary baking dish). You do however receive a core temperature sensor (for use when roasting joints), a deep pan and roasting/grilling trivet and a drainage applicator for when you do get round to using the steam oven function. We have tested a couple of the functions so far - the pizza setting is definitely worthwhile using as the ones we cooked came out beautifully golden with a lovely crisp base and the standard fan oven setting worked really well when baking fairy cakes with my daughter. Some other great features worth a mention are the child lock - invaluable in our house with three inquisitive young children, a digital timer which lets off an audible beep until the door is opened and a timer to automatically deactivate the appliance after a set time. I'm looking forward to using the pyrolytic cleaning function as this was a main factor in deciding on this model. The oven is used daily and not just by myself so its a great way to keep on top of the cleanliness! There are two set programmes for the cleaning function depending on amount of cleaning needed and when the function is in use the oven needs to be completely empty including all wire racks and side guides. The only con I have noted is the fact that the accessories for the Steam Oven function need to be purchased separately. Although it's not so much a negative against the appliance, it's the inconvenience of having to now order separately and the wait before I can use it. So all in all, I would give this appliance a 4.5 out of 5 only due to the small inconvenience of having to purchase the steam accessories separately.

Pros: Ease to use, Good build quality, Looks good, Lots of functions, Quiet Cons: Requires additional accessories for Steam function

Excellent looking oven with many useful features

This is a fantastic oven with many useful features. I've had it for only 3 days but have picked up the controls and features very quickly. The controls are intuitive as well as innovative in that they push back into the fascia when not in use to keep the front very flat and stylish. The display is in red and shows the time when the oven is turned off. The buttons control the time clock and the oven buzzer functions. The C button displays the current internal oven temperature when pressed. One thing that I wish the oven had is a backup for the clock if there is a power failure. If you have set a timer then this is reset if there is a power failure with the time defaulting back to 12:00 as per most ovens. Why manufacturers haven't resolved this yet, but even if it remembered the time for a few minutes this would be better than resetting after a few seconds power cut. Having this feature would mean timers would continue if power is restored and you come home to cooked food. Instructions are relatively easy to follow but several pages that were not part of the main manual showed how to attached the rack runners. On a setting of fan oven with a temperature of 180c it pre heats up in just under 10 minutes with the current oven temperature increase clearly shown on the display as a rising bars with the oven audibly beeping at you once it is at the set temperature. If you want to recall the internal cavity temperature when cooking you can also do this easily by pressing the C button. There is a bright spot light mounted internally that illuminates the entire oven cavity very well and the large clear door makes this even clearer. Some ovens have poor lighting but this is the opposite, very bright clear light. What is really good is the oven capacity it is very wide and space is not short, plenty of room for several trays of food with one oven rack mountable on a smooth sliding drawer style mechanism that you fit yourself (comes with the oven). The racks are also curved at the back and front so as to avoid any dishes sliding off. Going back to the door for a moment - what is particularly good is how smooth the hinges and door mechanism is. You can have the door open at any position which is excellent as means when you open to door to take your food out the door does not drop which can put stress and strain on the hinges if people are not careful. I also like the fact that when you open the door when the oven is turned off the light comes on and goes off when closed like it does on a refrigerator. When the fan oven is in use and the door is opened the fan turns off so as to keep the heat in rather than blowing the heat out into the room - meaning the kitchen does not become overheated. The front oven glass also remains cool to touch due to a separate cooling fan that blows ambient temperature air down between the front and back glass - meaning very safe for little fingers and hands. Many features such as, defrost, grill, top and bottom ovens, temperature selectable from 30c to 300c, steam cooking, meat probe to measure temperature, self cleaning (the oven heats to a very high temperature to burn anything off the inside so any ash just wipes away with a cloth. The meat probe is a great idea, it has an auxiliary connector on the end (like a headphone jack) which plugs into the top right of the oven. This remains inside the meat through cooking and the temperature from the probe shows up on the display so you know when your meat is cooked perfectly. I have a meat probe I use already if I need to check the temperature but expect this is a quicker way of doing so as I don't even need open the oven door to check. Steam cooking is a new way of cooking for me and I am yet to get to grips with this properly but the top right of the fascia is a little drawer that your pour water into. This then is converted into steam which is then injected into the oven interior cooking your food very cleanly and gently. Excellent for fish and vegetables I imagine however I am not sure I would use this feature as much due to preferring the more traditional way of cooking.

Pros: Bright light, Ease to use, Good build quality, Looks good, Quiet Cons: Expensive, No back up battery for clock/timers

Superb & Stylish Oven

An excellent choice of oven which stands out in the kitchen, even though it replaced a similar stainless steel oven, friends and family noticed it. AEG is pure class. Be prepaired to have to read the instructions this oven has ALOT of settings which are all good, but three weeks in we have still not used all of them - it is my mission to do so! It does NOT come with a cord so you need a cable to wire it in.

Pros: Good build quality, Looks good
