Solargo zone for rapid cooking. The CRO742DOB built in ceramic hob from Hotpoint will give your kitchen a touch of class with its sleek black finish and bevelled glass edge. It’s got 4 heat zones in varying sizes to suit both your large and small pans. You can choose from 9 power levels to really make sure everything is cooked to perfection. There’s also a Solargo zone that takes just a few seconds to reach temperature so you can just get cooking straight away. For safety, there’s a child lock so curious little fingers can’t access the controls and there’s also a residual heat indicator for each zone to let you know when the surface of the hob is cool enough to touch.
This is an excellent hob,a little wider than the norm which gives more room for pans. Two sizes on one ring and two sizes on an oval plate are just genius.Couldn't have picked a better hob for looks ,quality and use.

Does what it's supposed to
This product was easy to install and looks and performs great.
I have only two negative comments. Firstly the sealing strip that goes between the glass top and work surface isn't really suitable. The unit has a beveled glass top with sharp corners whereas the sealing strip has to have a curved corner when you do the installation leaving the sharp glass corners unsupported and therefore vulnerable to damage. We bought black kitchen sealant to finish it off and to provide support for the corners - not ideal.
The second point is that within seconds of adjusting the temperature of a heating zone the 'zone selection' resets meaning that you have to reselect the zone each time you want to make an adjustment. I have had other touch control jobs before where the last zone selected remains the active zone until a new zone is selected which is much more user friendly whilst cooking. It took a little while to get used to this unusual ' feature' but once you do it's not too much if a problem.
Over all it is a well performing product which looks good for the money.

After having used a gas hob, this hob was made cooking a pleasure again..
Instant power, instant heat in stead of waiting for what seemed like an age for water to boil.
The controls are so easy to use and the safety lock is such a welcome feature for everyone and not just child safety..
