Super Slow Cooker

Very simple to use, cooked evenly without any fuss. Recommended for anyone really, although reviewed for a family. It's so nice to walk back through the door and smell your dinner waiting for you! I prepare everything the night before and keep in the fridge, so in the morning I can just pop the ingredients in and turn it on. I haven't even used stock in my recipes as the flavour came through very well cooking that long, I just added pepper. So a great way to eat healthily. My family have been happy with the meals and had seconds! Easy to clean too. Recommended!

Pros: Ease to use, Good build quality, Looks good, Quiet, Value for money Cons: None

An excellent slow cooker for family meals

The Crockpot Auto-stir is a family sized slow cooker and at 5.7 litres, it cooks enough for up to 6 people. I have a family of four and it made plenty, even allowing room for leftovers which I could warm up for lunch the next day! The first meal I made in it was a sweet chilli chicken and it was a real winner. The automatic stirring system makes sure that the food is well combined and cooked evenly throughout, I have never had this in a slow cooker before and it makes all the difference. Previously the meat at the top of my old slow cooker would be dry as it sits there all day but with the stirrer, you get everything done well and it is cooked perfectly. The lid of the slow cooker locks into place with the lid clips meaning that no heat is wasted- it is all retained inside the cooker, and the glass lid means that you can check on the progress of your food without letting heat escape. You set the cooking time with the digital timer and once your meal is cooked, the ‘Keep Warm’ setting comes on, so your food stays at the right temperature until you are ready to eat it. When you put in the ingredients, just choose which stirring paddle you need for that dish (there is one for thinner recipes like soups and yogurts and one for thicker foods like stews and curries) and the Crockpot will do the rest! The only thing I found a bit complicated was switching it on the first time. I couldn't figure out how to do it and was pressing the 'on' button to the front of the device. You don't do this- you set the heat mode first (low or high) then set the timer, but once I knew this it was easy to use.

Pros: Good build quality, Looks good, Quiet Cons: Complicated

What a difference a stirrer makes;

Can’t believe how easy this was to unpack and set up, I plugged it in fixed the correct paddle for thicker recipes, in my case Beef Casserole. I roughly chopped all ingredients and threw them in the pot and added gravy. It was difficult to interpret the manual for the settings (they are not clear enough on the unit itself) but once I had done his and secured the lid as per instruction I turned the auto stir on. It immediately started turning, but didn’t go all the way round. I thought it was faulty, but no, according to the manual this was normal if it meets any resistance, sure enough the paddle later in the process went full circle. There was one issue I came across while checking the cooking process throughout the day was the glass lid was steamed up and full of moisture so you couldn’t see the progress of the food, I had to take the lid off once to check but think in future I will trust the process and leave until cooking finishes. A nice touch is the digital timer allowing you to control how long you have the crockpot gently cooking your food. At the end of the day I dished up the casserole and was extremely happy with the flavour, consistency and the texture of the dish, the food was cooked evenly throughout.

Pros: Ease to use, Good build quality, Looks good, Quiet Cons: Expensive
