This upright bagless vacuum cleaner from Dyson is not only easy to empty but cost-effective too, because you won’t need to buy replacement bags. Useful Ball Technology means you can manoeuvre around furniture easily, while Radial Root Cyclone™ Technology maximises suction and pressure to capture more dust and allergens. The economical lifetime filters help keep the air pure, and as they are washable, you can ensure excellent performance at all times. This versatile vacuum is perfect for the whole home, getting great results on carpets and hard floors.
Got to replace or old dyson dc14. It's a lot lighter The ball does take A little time to get use too but it is a lot more manageable to use.
I hadn't expected this Dyson DC40MF vacuum to be so heavy, but while that's the only negative I can pinpoint, I think it's an important factor. It's quite hard to push & manoeuvre at times. It picks up really well, and the pull out section, with associated attachments, is great; especially if you like to hoover the ceiling like me! It makes hoovering the stairs & skirting boards easy, too. The dust box is easy to detach and empty, which is good as it fills up scarily fast! I am disabled and, if I'd known ahead how heavy this vacuum is, I might've bought something else, but it is an effective item.
A lightweight Hoover that glides from carpet to flooring with no bother. The cable is long so there's no need to worry about having to stop and change plugs midway up the stairs!! It empties really easily & there's no dust cloud when you open the container!! The suction power is tremendous, all in all an amazing Hoover that makes cleaning a joy!
Why did Dyson go down the ball route? This cleaner is harder to push around then our old DC14 and DC07. Yes it sucks like its life depends on it, but as soon as you reach for the hose attachment the thing keeps falling over due to the very small rear wheel assembly and it follows you around like a dog wanting its dinner!
Dysons are rather like marmite, you either seem to love them or hate them! This purchase replaced our existing Dyson, the old roller ball DC04 animal upright - fantastic but unwieldy piece of kit. If your flooring is all about carpet, you won't go far wrong with this, it sucks with an intensity I've never witnessed before! ...the downside is rugs are a complete no-no. As others have already commented, it simply sucks them up into the carpet beaters and you can't actually 'vacuum' them, it all comes to a standstill. Even standing with feet straddled either end of a rug doesn't help matters! There's no adjustment on vacuum suction strength, so you're a bit stuffed really. It's not that noisy, if you're already used to a Dyson! and it's considerably smaller than the older models 10+ years old which makes it a little easier to maneuver about, but not massively, though It is easier to store . Don't be fooled by the 'gliding' label attached to these devices, there's still a lot of awkward shoving and pushing involved making it particularly unsuitable for an elderly person. The wand for sucking pet hair etc. from furniture and the like, is OK but not outstanding as detailed by Which? and on whose recommendation, I bought this product. Disappointingly, a number of the fittings and operations are more fiddly and less intuitive than with older models with no decisive 'click' into place for the wand and brush heads for example which is a shame. I guess change doesn't always mean progress! The unit we bought was on special offer, had it been full price, I think the disappointment would have been more extreme! In summary, a great device if your home is all about carpets! ...however, if it's a true multi-floor home, you may want to consider other options...
very powerful suction but it should be a bit more robust overall a good buy
