Bish Bash Bosch Fabulous dryer
This Bosch dryer with heat pump technology is an impressive piece of kit. Its built to last, looks and feels very sturdy and is energy efficient. It's lovely and quiet and I love that it has a self cleaning condenser, no more manual cleaning. The large 9kg drum is great as this enables me to dry duvets, pillows and other large items.
It's simple to use control panel allows you to select which drying programmes you want depending on what items you are drying. From towels, delicates, cottons, duvets, woollens and sportswear to name a few.
Each program selected has different time variations. This is dependent on what drying level you've selected. We found 'cupboard dry extra' seemed to dry items better and was suitable for items that took a while to dry such as towels and jeans. The 'iron dry' function is great if you like to iron clothes while slightly damp. The 'cupboard dry' is perfect for lighter items of clothing. You can also adjust the dryness level from +1 to +3. The higher the number the more heat generated.
Another great feature is that you can select the spin speed your washing has been spun on. This helps the machine with its smart technology estimate the amount of moisture that will still be in the items to be dried. It also has built in sensors that will adjust the drying time as it dries.
We found that similar materials or weighted items dried more evenly. When the fabrics were very mixed some items were completely dry whilst others still felt a little damp. Occasionally at the end of a drying cycle we'd have to take out the dry items and re-start for a short time with the damp items.
The crease guard function enables the dryer to move the items around at regular intervals once the drying has finished to prevent creasing, you can set this from between 30 minutes up to 120 minutes. This is a handy function that has definitely reduced my ironing time.
The fluff filter that collects the lint extracted from the water that's been condensed needs to be emptied after every drying cycle. It's amazing how much is in there. Also the water from the condenser needs to be emptied. I believe the machine will stop and an alert will show in the display if you forget and either gets full.
The dryer can be set to come on at a later time so it's dried for when you come home or wake up or, as its Wi-Fi enabled can also be programmed to come on via an app on your phone. We've not used these functions as of yet so can't comment on their effectiveness.
The safety feature of a child lock that stop little ones pressing buttons or trying to get inside is a fantastic addition. As grandparents this is very important to us.
Overall we love this dryer and its many functions, yes the drying cycles take longer, I believe, than its non heat pump counterpart standard condenser but it's energy efficiency class A++ rating means it's much more economical and cost efficient to run. LOVE it and thoroughly recommend it.

Well designed and built dryer but the manual let's it down along with some of the features not working as expected.
This overall is a fantastic heat pump dryer. Offering energy savings in return for a slight increase in cycle times when compared to traditional electric heating element dryer. A heat pump dryer doesn't use heating elements but uses a compressor just like in a fridge to generate heat which in turn gently dries the washing at a lower temperature than traditional resistive heating (heater elements) dryers. As a result the energy input is approx half of a none heat pump dryers. This dryer has a 900w power input maximum. Included is a drain hose to allow you to drain the dryer like you would a washing machine. First impressions are how well built it is, this is a quality product and looks built to last. There is a heavy well constructed door, large plastic porthole (glass on the inner side) to view through. Drum interior led light which is fantastic when loading/unloading but an option to keep this on during the cycle would be even better. Controls are relatively easy to use but I don't see the need for so many programmes, they are all sensor drying apart from two of them which are manual time ones. They all dry at the same heat and appear to tumble at the same rate as well. The manual is quite poor in that it shows you basic operating instructions but does not explain how the different programmes work. A full load of cottons dry the same on a mixed load as they do on the generic cottons setting. Overall the dryer dries well on its standard cupboard dry however I find for a load of towels I might like to change this to cupboard dry extra or to change the drying level in the menu to +1. Both of which just seem to add an extra 6 mins onto the cycle time so appear to do the same. There is an allergy cycle but I have no idea what it does as the manual doesn't really say but it chooses cupboard dry extra as its drying level automatically. There is also a gentle heat option which I thought would cause the compressor to cycle on and off a little more to keep the overall drum temperature less but washing still comes out at the same temperature with no change in the length of the cycle other than 4 minutes longer estimation at the start. I would love to know how this works as gentle heat should mean the washing is dried at a lower temperature but given a heat pump dryer dries at a lower heat anyway I am not sure this option really works. A complete review of the manual needs to be done so that users who have shelled out a lot of money (as I class this as a premium range product) know what features do what. On the first day I got it I used gentle heat on some t shirts - I never put t shirts in the dryer but as this has the gentle option I decided to put t shirts in. Result is that some have shrunk as the heat is still the same temperature as it would be without the gentle heat option on... I would love the manufacturer to let me know why this is the case as the compressor remained on through the whole cycle. I have had a heat pump dryer before so have experience to compare against and this one certainly dries a lot faster than my old one. This dryer cleans the condenser itself - the best feature of it I think as other than the two lint filters there is no maintainenance of a condenser. Somewhat a pain to do on my previous dryer as this used to clog with lint. Every now and then on the Bosch you will hear a click which is the water drawer opening a flap which flushes and rinses condensate water over the condenser, ridding it of any built up lint that gets past the filters. This works perfectly and a visual inspection with a torch after removal of the lint filters shows a perfectly clean condenser coil - my previous dryer would show a build up after 6 or so loads. The dryer is also quiet - other than the buzzing sound of the compressor which sounds like a fridge all sounds are normal my previous dryer was louder but this is quieter however if you was watching tv in the other room the hum might distract you. The way the drum and casing are designed means even sounds from buttons or zip hitting the sides are insulated and dampened down and less audible. Included with the dryer is a basket and mesh like frame that sits inside the dryer and suspends anything from shoes/trainers to a jumper that you might fold to dry in the dryer. This is useful and means shoes can be dried without them banging around. I expect to use this frequently with sports shoes and other trainers. I've also used the wifi app which is useful but more of a gimmick than anything but all appliances seem to be going this way. At the end of the cycle the dryer plays a sound (loudness adjustable on the dryer menus) and will turn every 5 mins or so to distribute the load to avoid creasing of laundry this is changeable upto 120 minutes. The app will alert you if you choose to that the dryer can be unloaded. One thing that is lacking is a cool down cycle where the dryer tumbles without heat for a period at the end of the drying cycle to cool down the load. This means the laundry is unloaded still quite hot which I believe can lead to creasing. Overall a well built solid product, a range of programmes and features however I am left confused by the lack of information in the manual as to what to expect from the features as they all seem to do the same. For the investment I would expect a better quality manual so that I can get the best use from the features especially as people generally purchase a product for its features their old appliance might not have had.
