You may have heard on the news recently about the ‘Heartbleed bug’ – a virus that has affected the security of private
data across many websites. We just wanted to let you know that we have fully checked our systems and haven’t been
impacted by the bug at all – so you don’t need to worry about the safety of the information you give us.
Our ultra-secure website encrypts (this basically means we take information and lock it up so no one can see) your details so we can make sure you shop safely at all times. These include your debit/credit card, name and address.
We take only take orders from Web browsers that allow communication through Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. For example: 3.0 version or higher of Internet Explorer and versions 3.02 or higher of Netscape. There's no way you can accidently order through an unsecured connection. Phew!
We only take card payments that have been given the green light by you. We use Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode programmes designed to give you more security. By creating your own password, you'll stop anyone making payments with your details.
If your bank operates a policy like Visa and MasterCard, you may not have registered yet and might be asked to do so in the checkout. It's really easy, just click 'Activate now', fill in your details and enter a new password. Then when you shop online in the future, each payment will be kept safe.
We won't share your information with any other company unless you say so. And even then you can unsubscribe whenever you like. We strictly follow the Data Protection Act and we may use your personal details. However, this all depends on your response to Data Protection questions, which are analysed anonymously by AO World PLC.
We operate an opt out mail system. This gives you the choice of whether or not you wish to receive marketing information. Replying to the 'unsubscribe' link in a promotional mail will also ensure that your name is removed from our mailing list. Your opt-in preference to receive promotional emails from websites owned by AO World PLC will be recorded as part of the sales process. You can unsubscribe from any of these emails at any time.
That's absolutely fine. Call our UK call centre on 0844 324 9222 and we'll happily place your order for you. We're open 7 days a week from 8am to 10pm.
