Today is National Pie Day and we wanted to celebrate all the pies around the world. Pies are such a versatile food, they come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, with an array of fillings and every culture does them differently. From samosas to the apple pie, there are always debates around what a pastry should actually comprise of to be classed as a pie. Well we Googled it:

Pie: noun

A baked dish of fruit, or meat and vegetables, typically with a top and base of pastry.

“a meat pie”

synonyms: pastry, tart, tartlet, quiche, pasty, patty, turnover

It is almost impossible to state where a pie originated from, because although the apple pie may be classed as being Dutch to some, there is a lot of debate around it, in fact, being American or Australian. So although we can’t do an ancestry check on our pies, one thing is for sure: wherever the pies are from in the world, we love all pies equally. We do not discriminate against pies of any shape or size. We love all the pies. Get them in my belly.
