Not long now and I think I’m allowed to start mentioning the C word? Yes, Christmas will soon be upon us! I’m fairly certain I’m not the only one wondering where the year has gone, but at the same time (like every year) I’m really looking forward to the festive season. With fairy lights, scented candles, hot chocolate and then, of course, mulled wine, this is the cosiest time of the year.

I have also started to think about presents. Not so much about what to give, but how to give it. You see, I believe that even the smallest gift can be beautiful as long as it’s chosen in a thoughtful way and wrapped nicely.

And when it comes to the wrapping part, I always like to add something a little personal and preferably handmade. So, this year I’ve opted for something with a little bit of glam but that nonetheless has the handmade touch.

Remove any dangling bits of string etc. usually used to hang the ornament. Using the paintbrush, apply a very generous amount of glue to the back of the ornament.

Place the ornament (glue side down) onto the clothes peg and leave to dry for about an hour until it’s completely stuck.

Place the pegs onto your old newspaper, open all your windows and then cover in a coat of paint. Leave to dry for about 30 minutes before applying the second and possibly third coat of paint.

Once dry, your gift toppers are ready to be clipped onto your gift wrapping.

That’’s all!  A simple, but pretty idea to give your gifts a personal touch.
