Copper is the hottest member of the metallic family at the moment, everything from jewellery to lighting and even bed headboards seem to be appearing in this shiny shade!

As a big lover of spray paint, I have many cans in many colours. Copper was definitely on my list and I’ve actually been spraying a couple of our radiators in it. But, I thought I’d create a smaller scale project for Christmas and New Year as metallics (particularly copper) are bang on trend for the seasonal period this year, too.

These are simply glass tumblers decorated in copper paint and used as tealight holders for your table or around the home. It’’s such a quick and simple project you could literally do it the night before your guests are arriving!

Make sure your glasses are clean and dry before you start.

Decide on the pattern you wish to create and then carefully mask off the areas on your glasses. I tried a scallop shape along the base of the glass and cut the shapes out from short strips of masking tape as I worked around the glass.

Take your glasses outside and give them a couple of coats of paint, leaving to dry in between.

For added attention to detail, spray your little tealight casings too!

It really is as simple as that! And I think they will look really elegant and warming over the festive period. What do you think? Are you a copper fan?
