Induction hob installation

Find out everything you need to know about our induction hob installation service.

Coronavirus (COVID-19): a note to our customers

We’re still delivering to our customers safely, but following the latest Government advice we’ve had to temporarily suspend some of our installation services. We can still offer an installation service for American Fridge Freezers and any built-in cooking products, except for LPG models. Unfortunately, we’re not able to offer installation for any other appliances, but as soon as this changes we’ll let you know.

Our fully trained team will get your new induction hob set up and ready to use for just £90. We’ll even disconnect your old hob. We’re fully approved by the NICEIC. Don’t know them? They’re only the UK’s leading electrical assessor – so you know we have high standards. Find out what’s included in this service and what you can do to prepare for us.

What we'll do

Setting up your new hob will be no problem for us. Here’s everything we’ll take care of.

  • When we arrive, we’ll unpack your new hob and disconnect the old one.
  • Don’t worry about cables or tools. We’ll bring everything we need to get your new hob installed.
  • We’ll take at least 8 pictures during installation, just so we’ve got a record of the service.
  • Chosen our Remove & Recycle service? We’ll take away your old hob when we leave.

What you need to do

There’s just a couple of things that you’ll need to do and check before we arrive.

  • The electromagnets in an induction hob can affect pacemakers and other medical devices. If you wear one of these devices, it’s best that you stand at least two feet (one metre) away. Talk to your doctor or the device manufacturer before you buy.
  • The space around your hob is called the Hot Zone and you need to make sure it’s free from switches, cooker hoods and anything flammable (so, no wallpaper). There needs to be a gap of at least 65cm between the hob and the cooker hood or ceiling above. If it isn’t clear of hazards, we may not be able to install your hob. Make sure you follow pre-installation instructions for your hob from the product manufacturer’s website.
  • Make sure your current electrical connection (plug socket or big red switch) matches what your new hob needs. If your new hob is over 3kw, then you’ll need a 16Amp or 32Amp fuse - a big red switch. If your new hob is below 3kw, then you’ll only need a standard 12Amp fuse – a regular plug socket. Compare what you have with the details of your new hob on the Key Information tab on our product pages to make sure you’re all set.
  • While you’re on the Key Information section, it’s worth checking the dimensions of your new hob, just to make sure you’ve got enough space in your kitchen.
  • You’ll need to have some induction pans ready for us, so we can test your new hob properly.
  • Hob going above your oven? Then you’ll need to leave enough space between appliances for airflow. 25mm (about an inch) should do it, but it’s best to check with the manufacturer. If your hob is going above something else like a cutlery drawer, you’ll need a partition for airflow and to protect your knives and forks. You’ll need to provide your own partition, but if it’s non-combustible, we can get it fitted. No problem.
  • Switching from a gas hob? No worries. We’ll send along one of our Gas Safe engineers to make sure your new hob is installed properly. You can let us know that you’re switching from gas at the checkout.

What is a Hot Zone?

What we don't cover

Here’s everything our installation service doesn’t cover.

  • We can make small adjustments like changing cables or switches to fit your hob, but we won’t remove anything in the Hot Zone or change any other part of your home.
  • Induction hob installation isn’t available at commercial properties. There must be a separate residential meter.
  • Installation for cooking products is only available on certain days in certain postcodes. Find out what dates are available for you at the checkout.
