Whether you’re searching for an integrated freezer that fits under your kitchen worktops or one that fits in a tall cabinet, there are plenty of things to think about. Our handy guide will tell you everything you need to know about the capacity, energy rating and what kind of features you can get your hands on.
There are two types of integrated freezers available:
Measuring for a new model is really easy. Most under counter and upright cabinets have the same width of 60cm and a depth of 55cm – so the main measurement you’ll need to take is the height. If you’re replacing an old appliance, simply measure from the top to the bottom of your freezer. You can also take a look at our integrated freezer measurement guide for more information.
The capacity of integrated freezers is measured in litres, with 18 litres being the equivalent of one bag of food shopping. This means a model with 100 litres should give you enough room to store around 5 full bags of shopping. If you have lots of hungry mouths to feed or you like stocking up on lots of frozen essentials, choose a model with a larger capacity.
Every integrated freezer has an energy rating that ranges from A++ to B. This tells you how efficient the model is. The better the rating, the more economical it will be. So if you want a model that will be kinder to your energy bills, choose an A++ rated integrated freezer.
If food takes a long time to freeze, it can lose texture and flavour, but you can keep it fresher and tasting great with a model that has a special fast freeze setting. It works by rapidly lowering your freezer’s temperature so the newly added food freezes quickly. This is ideal for locking in nutrients and flavours of meat, fish and veggies, so they’ll taste just as good as the day you bought them.
Some integrated freezers are Frost Free models, which prevent ice from building up by constantly circulating cold air inside. This saves you the hassle of manually defrosting your freezer. Since there’s no ice, you’ll end up saving energy and money on your bills with an efficient Frost Free model.
