2018 has seen some incredible PC games grace our screens, from fun and frantic VR games to epic open-world adventures. We’ve picked out a few of our favourite titles from this year, and taken a look at what’s yet to come.
Ever since we saw the first Jurassic Park movie, we've wanted our very own Dinosaur theme park. Thanks to Jurassic World Evolution, we're one step closer. Whether you're a fan of the Pachycephalosaurus or the good ol' T-Rex, you can control every aspect of your park and see how Dinos of all sizes interact with the world you've built. You can choose whether to focus on science, entertainment or security as you create the best (and safest!) theme park in the world. Plus, Jeff Goldblum makes a return as Dr. Ian Malcolm, what more could you want?
Praise the Sun! The original Dark Souls is back and it's better than ever. Originally released back in 2011, this version boasts upgraded graphics and the classic gameplay that has made the Souls series such addicting games. Expect challenging fights ahead of you in the land of Lordran, as you encounter freaky enemies and gruelling boss fights.
In this game, you play as the cutest postal worker around, Yoku, as he arrives on the tropical island of Mokumana. He's ready to start his new job and soak up some sun, but things don't quite go to plan. Using unique pinball style gameplay, you'll help Yoku explore the stunning regions of the island and save an ancient deity. On your journey, you’ll be helping out colourful locals, rebuilding the post office and of course, delivering some mail!
Set in an alternate 1960s, things aren't what they seem in Wellington Wells. Residents of this quaint British town mask their true feelings with a drug called Joy, that makes them delusionally happy, and they don't like it when someone breaks from the status quo. Playing as three rebellious citizens, you choose whether they hide or conform as you uncover the dark past of this mysterious town.
Perfect for anyone who prefers virtual reality gaming, Beat Saber is a different kind of rhythm-action game. Armed with a pair of light swords, you're tasked you with slashing the beats in time with the music. If you're thinking Guitar Hero mixed with Star Wars, you're on the right track. The game comes with a whole bunch of tunes that will get you moving, and you can even download songs that other people have created. If you don't mind waving your arms about and looking a bit mad, Beat Saber is a great bit of VR fun.
We've still got an amazing line-up of games to look forward to in 2018 and there are loads of awesome journeys to go on. Take your place in the dugout and lead your team to glory in the latest Football Manager, see things from the bad guys' perspective with Lego DC Super-Villains or travel back to Ancient Greece in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Whatever you're into, there's an incredible adventure waiting for you.
