A brand new year means a ton of new releases to get excited about, and we’ve picked out the 3 titles we’re most looking forward to getting our hands on. So whether it’s adrenaline-pumping racing, swashbuckling sword fights or a huge, dangerous world to get lost in, these three games will have you covered.
The Far Cry series has been setting the benchmark for awe-inspiring graphics and action-packed gameplay for a while now, and Far Cry 5 is no different. Players are pitted against a host of arch enemies who are out for blood, and you’ll need a strategy if you want to kick the bad guys out of town. Although the huge range of guns seen in other Far Cry games is still available, there’s more emphasis on close-range combat this time around. And did we mention you can recruit wild animals that come to your aid in combat? Far Cry 5 will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC from March 27th. If you’re a PC gamer and want to enjoy the action on max settings, a system with an NVidia GTX 1070 graphics card or better will keep everything looking sublime.
Imagine hunting for buried treasure, sailing huge ships and battling roving bands of pirates. If that sounds right up your street, then Sea of Thieves is your next game. Set in a huge open world filled with desert islands and uncharted oceans, the aim is to become a successful pirate and lead a crew of rag-tag mercenaries across the azure seas. Available from 20th March, Sea of Thieves is the one of the first games that will really take advantage of Microsoft’s new Play Anywhere feature, which means players can pick up their game on their Xbox One or PC anywhere, anytime. What better excuse to invest in a new gaming PC with an Intel® Core™ i7 processor, which will keep games like Sea of Thieves running smoothly.
Following on from the brilliant first title in the series, The Crew 2 is due for release mid-2018 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and takes the open-world racing format to the next level. As well as major graphics improvements and more content across the scaled-down replica of the United States, there’s also tons of new vehicles and a bigger, more intriguing storyline. The game is completely transformed by the new switch feature too, which allows players to transform their car into a boat, biplane, motorcycle or ATV instantaneously, adding a whole new dimension to racing. It’s worth checking if your computer has enough RAM to handle such a huge open world, so it might time for an upgrade if you only have 4GB or less.
