Summer – as far as I’m concerned – is the perfect time for fresh and fruity smoothies. Whether it’s as a cool and refreshing afternoon pick-me-up, as a snack or as breakfast, packed with fresh goodness and nutrients, smoothies and smoothie bowls are a great way to get your 5-a-day as well as filling you up.

Breakfast smoothie bowls are of course also a great idea if you’re looking to start the day on a healthy note. I mean, who wants to eat jam on toast every day or porridge in the middle of summer, right? With just a little planning ahead (mainly your shopping list) you can whip each of these up in less than 5 minutes using the fab Nutribullet.

 

Here's what you'll need...

Mixed Berries Bowl:

  • 200g mixed berries
  • 100ml almond milk
  • ½ frozen banana
  • 1tbsp almond butter
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • for decoration: berries, chopped almonds

Apple & Cinnamon Oat Bowl:

  • 2 apples
  • 60g oats
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 300ml sweet soy milk
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • for decoration: apple slices, chopped almonds (because nobody wants to chew on dry oats)

Green Bowl:

  •  ½ avocado
  • 60g fresh spinach leaves
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 200ml coconut milk
  • 1 kiwi
  • for decoration: kiwi slices, coconut flakes, spinach leaves

NOTE

You will need to freeze chopped banana pieces a day ahead of making any of the smoothies. The main reason for using them is to give the dish a thick consistency, but none of the bowls taste overly of banana.

    Put all the ingredients into the Nutribullet.

    Process for 1 minute.

    Pour into a bowl, decorate and serve immediately.

    Put the ingredients ½ the spinach into the Nutribullet.

    Process for 1 minute and add the other half of the spinach and process for another 30 seconds.
