Ok, this is one of those desserts that don’t necessarily look like much but are perfect for cold days when something sweet and comforting is needed. Also, if you find yourself in a bit of a tight spot with unexpected guests turning up for dinner, this is made fairly quickly and most of the time is taken up by simply baking it in the oven, leaving you free to entertain.


Here's what you'll need...

  • 500ml single cream
  • 2 free range eggs
  • 2 free range egg yolks
  • 90g golden caster sugar
  • ½tsp ground cinnamon
  • Zest of 1 small orange

    Preheat your oven to 150C and then put the eggs, yolks, sugar, cinnamon and orange zest into a bowl and whisk until light and fluffy.

    Heat the cream until hot but not boiling and now slowly add the hot cream to the egg mix whilst continuously whisking.

    Pour the mix into an ovenproof dish, place the dish into a deep baking tray.

    Fill the baking tray with hot water to come half way up the custard dish. Bake for 45 minutes or until set.

    Sprinkle with a little cinnamon/sugar mix to serve.
