Getting together with friends and family for a few celebratory drinks is what party season is all about. So, why not go that extra mile when serving up your Christmas or New Year’s Eve cocktails with these glittery jam jars and cute drink stirrers? Non-alcoholic drinks can be served up in these festive glasses too of course, to make even the designated driver or under 18s feel spoiled!

Consider creating something unique for each guest or perhaps think about changing up the colours of the netting or glitter depending upon your own party decor. And don’t forget to add a brightly coloured straw that will put your guests in a party mood!

  • Jam jars
  • Glitter
  • Rubber Cement Glue (I used Copydex)

here's how it's done...

  • 1

Paint a thin coat of the rubber cement glue over the bottom half of your jam jars.

Pour glitter over the glued area, shake off excess glitter. Use a piece of paper underneath which has a fold in it to catch your glitter and then you can simply funnel it back into your container and reuse. Leave the glue to dry.

Cut a long strip of your netting material, approx. 5cm x 100cm. With your needle and thread, create a running stitch along one side of the longest length. Ruche the fabric up like a tutu, and tie the two ends of thread tightly and trim.

Glitter Jars Steps 3 and 4

With your glue gun, add a dot of hot glue to the end of your wooden skewer and glue your netting fabric to this.

Glitter Jars Steps 5 and 6

  • 5

Paint the tips of your feathers with copydex. Sprinkle glitter over the glued area and shake off the excess.

Glue your feather into the middle of your netting using the glue gun.

Now all you need to do, is come up with a colourful cocktail to add to your jam jars and pop in some pretty straws.

If you ever wanted to remove the glitter, just run the jar under warm water and the Copydex softens and peels right off!  So you can reuse the jars for another crafty project in the future!
