Spring is here and how lovely it is to be able to get out in the garden and enjoy a few days of sunshine! I must admit, during the winter months, my garden does suffer from neglect, but come spring, I’m raring to give it a refresh and inject some colour! Of course you can do this simply with some vibrant plants and flowers, but I also love jazzing up containers, furniture and other surfaces. And what easier way to do it than with spray paint?

You may remember my jam jar lid garland from a previous post? This has lasted the whole winter outside and still looks bright and fresh. So I decided to give some terracotta pots a matching makeover….

here's what you'll need...

  • Terracotta pots
  • Spray paints
  • Green painter’s tape

here's how it's done...

Make sure your pots are clean and dry. To get nice crisp lines, take your time with the masking process, –especially if you try more ambitious designs such as the triangles on my larger pot here. Make sure the tape is well adhered, and press the edges down neatly.

Then simply give your pots a first coat of spray paint (ideally outside with newspaper down). Leave to dry.

Apply a second coat, leave to dry and then check how they look and if you’’ve missed any spots, just fill them in.

Then simply remove your tape and voila! A super easy and quick injection of colour to your garden or windowsill display!

Experiment with layering of colours, just let the first layer dry before masking off the new area for your 2nd colour. We’’d love to see your designs if you give this idea a go.
