Perhaps as a backlash to the swirling floral carpets of the 60’s and 70’s, the last 20+ years saw a return to a much simpler floor. Wood and tiles were in, migraine-inducing carpet was out. But today’s homeowners are starting to discover that creating a fantastic effect on their 5th wall can actually create a real statement.
There are so many materials out there for flooring that choosing one can be a little overwhelming. However, if you’re considering something a little different, then hopefully my post today can assist you with your decision, and I promise there’s not a swirly carpet in sight!
While you will see my bathroom tiles in this post, my own floors are actually quite simple, stained pine floorboards and slate flooring in the kitchen.

I’ve put together some of my favourite flooring and flooring effects, some simple, some more intricate, to bring a little life to your floors.
With so many options available, which is your favourite?
