For the last few months, I’ve been having a kind of love affair with a colour that was never even on my radar until fairly recently. I tried ignoring it but like any good obsession, these kinds of things burn their way into your consciousness and it’s difficult to rid yourself of them so I gave into the urge and ended up painting my dining room in a dark rich blue tone which makes me giddy every time I step into the room.
Deep blues are found so elegantly in nature and sometimes a colour that you may have passed by previously, suddenly starts to jump out in every direction.
Need convincing? Here’s a little mood board of the darkest blues found in our surroundings – from clementis blooms to the feathers of peacocks, the tumultuous hues of deep oceans and the midnight sky. It’s nature and our surroundings that often inspire us so I’m hoping these images inspire you to think about including this beautiful colour into your interiors.
But how do we incorporate this colour into our homes? Well, here are some gorgeous rooms of blue – from walls to sofas to headboards, a little bit of blue works heavenly in so many situations.
And now as we head into Autumn and the rich tones of blues and rust, burgundy and plums seem to be everywhere, why not incorporate a little bit where you live?
How would you use midnight and navy blues in your home?
