Freely poor picture versus co-ax aerial
4/5
TV has great picture and good sound at a cracking price!
My only jibe with it, and I believe this is the case with all the new "Freely" TV's, is this.
The TV tuned in 147 channels , via my standard co-ax aerial socket, and the HD picture is stunning, for example on BBC1, channel 101 Freeview HD.
However, after this in the set up process - very easy - you connect to your wi-fi and the TV loads Freely and all the other Smart Apps .
And here's the rub. Freely takes president over your TV channel list and now, your co-ax aerial list is no longer available. The TV adds the aerial channels that Freely does not have, but you can not directly access the aerial stored channel list.
This means 2 things.
Firstly, that your standard Freeview channel numbers in your TV paper no longer apply to most Freely channels.
And secondly, my main gripe, is that you can only watch the HD channels with Freely as the source. Why is this a problem? Our Broadband speed is not to clever, and this of course effects the picture quality on the TV. If I could select "Aerial" as the source - like you do for HDMI1, HDMI2 etc etc - then I could watch in 4K UHD, and it IS a SUPERB picture, trust me....but because Freely rules the channels, you have to watch the Freely supplied picture, which is no where near as good!!
This is particularly frustrating when you know that your new TV does have a fantastic picture, but you can't access this!!
I am guessing if you have ultra fast broadband, the picture will be ok, but not many folk do, hence my gripe.
