    Unreliable and then caught fire

    1/5
This cooker is NOT SAFE. As other reviewers have mentioned, the cooker occasionally exhibited odd behaviour; the door lock light might come on when door was not locked; the oven would sometimes turn itself off in the middle of cooking; sometimes it would not turn on. While doing a pyrolytic self-clean earlier this week, the electrics tripped and when I went to investigate, the kitchen was full of smoke and the oven was on fire at the back. Fire Brigade were called and made safe. Investigation engineer said it was the PCB that started the fire and it was the worst he had ever seen. AO customer service have been excellent - helpful, understanding and supportive.

    Poor reliability

    1/5
Within a couple of months the oven stopped working and whilst the repair service was prompt we had to wait several weeks for parts. Since then we have had other problems. On one occasion the oven would not turn off and this week the oven stopped working halfway way cooking. The engineer has again been called but we have frankly lost patience with this product and brand.

    Never again

This glossy heap of junk has gone to meet its maker. Smeg should be ashamed with themselves for selling such an unreliable product. After just a few weeks, the oven locked itself halfway through a celebration supper. Hours of calls, three engineer visits, innumerable electronic parts and six weeks later the cooker was rendered completely unusable. And I was very bored with sandwiches. Smeg claims to be a 'premium' brand, but you'd get far better aftersales service from a market trader. Endless wait music, customer service staff locked in a death spiral of obfuscation and uselessness. They want your money, not your problems. Fortunately I had bought the thing through AO who in marked contrast, sorted the whole matter during a single phone call. Full marks to them. My (non Smeg) replacement is now on its way. I'll never touch the SMEG brand again.

All fur coat and no nickers

Wished I had never bought this , that's the joys of being a kitchen snob , AO in fairness offered to swap it for a loss of over £100 but it's the time and ache of doing that , I spoke to Smeg about the bad design of the shelves but I may as well talked to the cat ! Watch the small oven as the heating element is wicked at the top of the oven I have the scar to prove after using the top shelf , the built quality is not up to the price bracket , the wire shelf's are dangerous to how they are designed , I am praying for it to break down or even better blow up so I can change it for another cooker with my AO insurance cover , I hope I am not looking at it for the rest of my life, I can recommend AO service of taking old cooker away and installing new one , very good service for what you pay , so always remember just because it has a fancy badge it don't mean diddly squat .

    Smeg goes on fire

    1/5
Had cooker 3 months. One engineer visit after 1month after electrics were doing strange things. Engineer could not find a fault. Had continual bazaar behaviour from the electric oven, i.e. Door locking, cutting out etc Today the rear of the range caught fire, all the family were evacuated and fire brigade made safe. Luckily we were in the kitchen to stop the fire taking the whole house.

    Horrendous experience

    1/5
Had it less than 10 months. 2 engineer visits in that time, last week it started doing weird things again, going onto different settings, saying door was locked but it wasn't. Then made a strange crackling noise, smoke poured out the back of it, saw flames, 5 of us escaped the house with 2 dogs and the firemen made it safe. Oven totally destroyed beyond repair. SMEG been AWFUL. AO been brilliant. I won't buy SMEG again

    Broken down four times already

    1/5
The absolute worst range I have ever owned. The main oven fan setting has broken down TWICE in the last 6 months. The repair man said you have to use it every setting in order for the fan not to ‘stick’. What’s the point having any other settings on the range if we can’t use them? Totally unreliable with temperature, shocking how terrible this product is, save yourself the headache and buy something else.

AO service Great - product NOT

Had cooker 2 months already broken, AO offer no after sales care unless paying for an extended warranty and Smeg couldn't care either, have not made contact regarding a repair and it's been broken for over a week. Disappointing that this was the most expensive cooker we have bought so had high expectations.
