I received this coffee machine today, and there was a little chip in the paint and the chrome was discoloured. Mohammed from AO customer service was fantastic, but I am less than impressed with the SMEG appliance. It seems to work well...but for £169 it should be pretty top of the line.

Very pleased with the Quality of the machine, appears well built and the features are very good. The time button feature is very useful, and it has been used on numerous occasions since purchase. The only couple of drawbacks with the machine in my opinion are, 1. The machine is a little bulkier than I initially envisaged, and secondly, the machine is slightly difficult to fill with water, as you have to pour the water into the corner of the machine, you also can’t appear to empty the coffee jug completely, there always remains a small amount of coffee remaining in the jug. Overall though, I am very pleased with the purchase of the coffee machine.

It looks great, as you'd expect from a Smeg machine. It makes good coffee too and the settings (which are easy to use) and timer available mean it's a pretty flexible machine. My only negative is that it's slightly tricky to fill the water reservoir using the carafe and I end up having a bit left as the gap is quite small and the lid doesn't open far enough, but I'm guessing that's a limitation of style over function! The price is pretty high for an equivalent machine but you're paying for the style and build quality. Or like me, you already have the kettle and toaster and want it to match!

This is a beautiful machine!!! Everyone comments on it when they see it. Thankfully it also makes superb stress free coffee that is piping hot and the choice of how many cups you need. My favourite purchase in a long time!

This looks lovely and makes good coffee but for such an expensive machine it's very poorly designed. The lid only opens to a 90 angle and the carafe sides are straight not curved like most filter coffee machines. The combination of the two means it's impossible to completely empty the carafe into the machine. You need to overfill the jug and throw the last fluid ounce or two away. Clearly that's not an onerous task but it seems like a gratuitous waste of water. I thought by buying Smeg I'd be getting top of the range design to match the top of the range price but this seems like they've put form over function.
