The microwave operates reliably, and seems well built - but has many limitations. It's because of these limitations that I wouldn't give it 3 stars (perhaps a 2.5/2.8, as it is well-built - it's just very basic). No internal lighting except while heating, hence inconvenient when opening the door to place or remove items. The dial can be difficult to read, so brief 10 or 20 second heating sessions are awkward. I'm sure it's a reliable microwave, and it's been fine reliability-wise so far and looks solid. It's odd that a good manufacturer like Bosch has put such an outdated design onto the market. The functionality on this microwave is so basic, and out of tune with modern living that it really belongs in the 1970s/80s - or a museum, unfortunately.

Nothing wrong with the unit itself i.e. it works as advertised. The usability isn't great though. Bosch have reused the knobs from their cooker range and they aren't the easiest to grip. There isn't a clear indicator of the knob angle - just a shallow indent on the face. The time and wattage markings are printed in dark grey on the glossy black plastic making it really difficult to see what value you're set to. The light inside is a bit weak but I think you have other problems if you're staring into a microwave.

Not very clear dials

Bought this microwave for my 80-odd year old dad as he needed something simple to operate. It’s a good looking machine BUT the numbers on the timer dial are not easy to see, not helped by the reflective black surface behind them. If we’d seen it in a shop, we probably would not have bought it for him.

It is compact which is why we bought it. The controls are basic and it is tricky to set an accurate time that isn’t an exact minute. But it does the job and looks good.

Simple and intuitive to use, reputable brand. A little plasticky but otherwise OK

Manual not digital but ok. The light inside is very dim and therefore impossible to see your food whilst it is cooking.
