    Payback time

    5/5
First the stuff normal people want to hear: we have had it about 2 weeks, it is quiet, large and as far as freezers go, quite stylish. The AO delivery chaps were great and installed it in our shed in a matter of minutes, just leaving me to pile in the frozen food whilst they hauled away our old one - Perfect ! Now the geeky bit: Our old freezer was about 20 years old and I noticed it was on virtually all the time. I put an energy monitoring plug on it and it was using over 3KWh a day of electricity and this was in January when in our shed it was cold. We had a few warmer days and the usage went up further - the freezer was using about 20-25% of our total electricity and would only get worse n the summer. With the new freezer, the cost of the electricity has fallen from around £1.20 a day to less than 10p. It should pay back the cost in less than two years.

    not up to par

we bought a BEKO Freestanding Tall freezer and it broke down on us while still on warranty. The support was very poor and they claim they need to confirm everything through Turkey. Unresponsive to calls on the BEKO 24/7 line during weekends, takes days to respond to e-mails and still longer for the service man to show up only to find out he has no parts at hand and you will have to wait weeks for them. Even though the BEKO Freestanding Tall freezer was less than two years old. In our case all food went to waste before they showed up with a replacement, as that took them nearly two months to arrange. Make sure you collect your receipts from the garbage bin if you plan to collect any damages from them. In our experience the affordable price doesn't bring any long term benefits.

    Capacious, efficient and space saving

    4/5
Did my research for an energy efficient, garage-safe, upright freezer. This is how I have ended up with this Beko model. It is capable of storing more frozen goods than even I thought possible, in an organised manner. Because it is tall yet slender, it takes up less floor space whilst maximising storage space. One of the major advantages being that the handle is quite high and that ice cream can be placed higher than small people can reach! Because it is frost free it requires less freezer maintenance so long as you follow the rules which apply to any frozen good storage and the special instructions regarding airflow. Overall I would consider this a 5* appliance as it does everything it should with no messing. However, I have to reduce the rating for myself as I read that the handle is reversible. Unfortunately, it is not until you read the instructions that you find out that this is only something which can be done by getting in touch with a specialist. I’m learning to live with the door opening the wrong way for its current position. That extra piece of clearer information would have made this my 5* purchase as this appliance does really warrant it.

    Could do better

Good size freezer with lots of space inside. Downside is that although frost free, condensation causes some ice to build up on the draws. The door is only reversible if you get an engineer to do it, as the electrics for the door display go through the hinge. Neither AO or Beko will do it. If you do it yourself it invalidates your warranty. You have to hold the freezer when you open the door as it moves due to the suction. Overview: does what it says on the tin, but could be better and over priced.

Great but no easy way to move the door around

    4/5
Oh my gosh, what a lifesaver. It freezes the food quickly. Really nice shelving. And it has really opened up a lot of spaces that were taken up by my box freezer. I only have 2 points of discontent. Even though it says the door can be changed over. It is a really difficult process and you have to pay a qualified person to do it. I wish there was some handy instructions (other than YouTube) and the process of swapping the door around would be a process that even I could do. My other issue is that though the roller wheels under the back of the freezer makes it really easy to move the freezer, it also makes it so that every time I open the door the freezer rolls a bit. I have to brace the frame in order to open the door without moving it.

For the money could be better

Hard to tell as only had it a week. But here are my initial reactions: We chose this because 1. it is being kept in a space that is regularly below 10 deg C in the winter and there was very little choice. 2 it provide the space we needed in a more accessible form than a chest freezer. 3.It was as low an energy rating as we can afford. The best is twice the price! Pros: 1 easy accessible produce 2 can change target temp without opening door ? Seems to be working but auxiliary thermister showing 2 degrees lower?? Cons: 1. No interior light. Have to use a head torch 2. Temperature sensor in position that makes it hard avoid when loading freezer 3 No actual temperature reading given only target temperature. This is a big negative to us!! 4 lowest target temp is 18 Deg C I know this is the recommended temp but we do not keep meat or cheese in there. The delivery folk were great and delivery was next day as needed as our old one was dying fast despite our existing one being only 11 years old

Beko FNP4686W Frost Free Upright Freezer

The freezer is working well. Has good capacity although it seems strange that the top shelves are not full depth, and there are rater silly pockets on the door in this area. Perhaps this is to do with air circulation inside the freezer. The display on the door only shows the setting temperature , not the actual temperature of the freezer compartment. It is disappointing that Beko did not go the extra "foot" (it wouldn't need a mile) to make the display show the actual temperature. The door can only be rehung to hinge on a different side by a technician (at the owners cost). This is a design weakness in my opinion, which a little more effort on the part of the design office could have overcome.

    excellent freezer

The first freezer I received had a problem. The engineer visited and this was then replaced by one that works. Located in the garage, it needs to be good for winter temperatures and no other manufacturer is able to work at such low temperatures
