    Utter Rubbish!

    1/5
Needed a new dishwasher after our aging Siemens stopped working. After an internet search (and being very pleased with our Hotpoint washing machine) settled on this one. Arrived well packaged. On the plus side it looks very good and is really quiet when running. BUT.... the baskets are absolutely appalling. 1. Really flimsy design. 2. The top basket has a height adjustable function using a couple of orange tabs at each side. Unfortunately, these release the basket during most cycles which allows the top basket to drop down and jams the spray arm on the plates in the lower one! 3. The prongs which should hold the crockery upright for washing are set far too close together for everyday plates, bowls (e.g. Denby). You can hardly get them in without bending them and then the crockery does not wash as it's too close together! 4. There are no prongs for tall glasses (e.g. high ball or pint glasses) so they fall over constantly during a cycle! Hotpoint customer services simply do not want to know when I complained about the design. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!

At least it doesn't claim to be smart.

The hardware seems ok, thought a bit flimsy in places. The software really lets it down. The self timer limits you to certain values instead of just allowing you to set the number of hours. It pauses the self timer when the door opens too. Also, the door opens too late when "drying" things, making that feature next to useless. There's also a tablet setting but you have to switch it on every time - it doesn't remember the setting. I can't imagine any of this will ever be fixed for this model, so if you're annoyed by bad software, avoid this dishwasher.

Great machine if your plates are flat and you wash glasses by hand

I have given this dishwasher one star for cleaning well and one star for being reasonably quiet. We had the previous model and that lasted for six years of use (with one repair). We then purchased this newer model that looked very similar but claimed to clean more place settings. It has achieved this by making all of the prongs/slots much narrower. So now it only fits skinny, flat plates that do not have any rim. Furthermore, a change in design of the top drawer means that it is very difficult to load glasses without them tipping over. We curse every time we load it and can't wait for it to fail so that we can buy a different model.

    Disappointed

I'm very disappointed. This dishwasher doesn't clean as well as my previous one. I thought that Hotpoint was about quality, but I was wrong.

OK this machine is incredibly quiet, BUT I'm totally disappointed at the distance between bottom and top draws. It is just not big enough for normal sized dinner plates, so top rotation arm hits the plates. It has to be stacked with a maximum of 4 dinner plates at the sides to allow the arm to rotate. Shame they didn't lift the top draw by half an inch. Other than that, it's a good machine.

    Quiet but space layout awful

    2/5
Positives Very quiet dishwasher Reasonably priced Specially looked for dishwasher with quick (30 min) function and display of time remaining so that’s good Very different to our old dishwasher which had dials to select programme but this one is easy to use Negatives Very poor layout. We drink pints of squash at mealtimes and it doesn’t really fit pint glasses in (only a couple on the top and then they’re not very secure). The tray on the top is annoying as you’ve got to remove it every time you add something to the top. After a week, my husband put it away in a cupboard! The gap between the prongs is small in places to difficult to fit all our pots in for a single day in our three-person household. It says it’s for 14 settings (I think) but over a day we probably don’t quite get to that even if we’re at home all day and have every meal at home. However if you add a couple of small pans (e.g. for soup) and a serving bowl you cannot get all our pots in for the day. Two or three times in the 10 days we’ve had the dishwasher, we’ve had to leave pots out for putting in the next day or wash pots by hand. We’ve also put the plates in the individual adjacent slots yesterday (rather than every other slot) and three of the plates were not washed properly. Having said that, it has washed the pots pretty well the remaining days. So not very happy. Did consider taking it back but that would probably be a lot of hassle. That’s the problem with buying online as you cannot really know how it would work with the types of pots you use daily. Even buying after looking at it in a shop might not have revealed the problems.
