My new Sony 65", a marvel.
5/5
I got this to replace a TV of the same size which had dimming issues on one side of the screen.
It's on a different level to any TV I have ever owned.
The picture is superb, the sound is great & the remote controls are a pleasure to use.
I use large screen TVs basically as computer monitors & don't watch that much TV, but the freeview picture & sound quality is excellent and sports like football automatically set the mode & play perfectly.
Streaming quailty from devices like my laptop, phone, etc is also excellent.
The 2 remotes respond about 10 times faster than my older sets ever did & even things like putting in passwords using them becomes a pleasure rather than a struggle.
The set goes in & out of standby immediately, as opposed to any other large screen TV I've owned which take maybe 30-40 seconds to pull the TV out of standby.
Also, unlike any other TV I know of, you can tailor your screen to such a degree that you can remove annoying notifications (e.g. My last set used to put a big HDMI icon in the middle of the screen for 15 seconds when you switched source annoyingly blocking your view).
I HDMI connected my laptop & the Sony automatically picked up the correct screen resolution & sized it to fit the screen, something which no other TV has been able to successfully do.
The settings for adjusting screen display (wider margins, etc) are a breeze if needed.
I can now play my games at double the FPS & they look & perform that much better.
I was convinced by a friend to splash out the little bit extra and get a Sony, becuase of the quality difference.
He's had his Sony for 18 years with no problems, the last 10 years of it being in the bedroom. He gave the set to another mutal friend & replaced it with another Sony. This mutual friend has owned it for another 6 years so it's 24 years old & still works perfectly.
If this one continues working like it does now & is still going in 8 years let alone 24 I will be pleased as punch.
