Miele stands for Marvelous

Miele KFN29162Dws [tall] Fridge Freezer
First off. The size... it is tall, very tall so if like us you buy one and have it delivered (to your door only or just inside) be prepared to have to man-handle it from your front door all the way to the kitchen.
Not a problem for some but if you need to go through a doorway or two this fridge is taller than the average door frame (height) and so needs tilting over to get through!
Anyway that small point aside, the actual fridge is amazing. On first unpacking you notice just how much higher the quality is over the likes of lesser brands such as Samsung, Bosch, Hotpoint etc .... It's well packed with protection coverings everywhere and a whole stack of User Manuals in whatever language you like as well as several useful accessories (Ice Tray, 2 Egg holders and even a metal bottle rack... nice).
Once in place and switched on, it takes a few hours to settle in and for the digital display to start showing a correct temperature for either the Fridge or Freezer section .... the Fridge was quickest though and the indicated temp was verified by a stand-alone Temperature reader as being spot on. And within 8-10 hours the freezer was there too. Sweet.
Next, Use ... the inside of the Fridge is ginormous, so much so that 3 weeks on we've still to fill it fully something we managed easily with our previous 5 year Hotpoint one that was all wall (extra thick insulation that failed miserably in keeping the inside cold!) with a plastic back and very noisy motor. Plus the Bangs and Cracks as it defrosted/re-froze started to drive us mad.
On which point the Miele is so quiet. Yes it does make a little noise. But little is the main word. You get the odd wheezing sound as the pump (I guess) circulates the refrigerant but you don't get the loud motor noise or the noise of the insulation creaking and banging as the unit defrosts.
One final point, aside from the cavernous size of the main fridge which is great...it also nice to have a fridge section that actually gets Cold. We love ... almost ice cold drinks whenever we like now. Perfect.
On to the Freezer side. You may feel a little disappointed as there are only three drawers (our old Hotpoint dinosaur one had four!) .... but these Miele ones are larger, more useful and don't have any unnecessary fixings/mouldings that reduce the usefulness of them. Yes the bottom one is smaller as the motor etc is located just behind this one ... but it's still a very useful size, bigger than our last one. Result.
So all in all a great Fridge/Freezer. Yes not the cheapest (or the dearest) but it is true you get what you pay for and this one is defiantly worth the extra outlay.
As a final note. I have it plugged into a separate energy monitor and so far (as an average) it's using less than a unit of electricity a day [compared to our last inefficient one running at closer to two] ... OK, just checked it and taking an average it's using about 0.65 kWh a day.
Happy. Happy. Happy
