    Nightmare to clean

    1/5
Bought this to replace our AEG which had served us well for 12 years. Very disappointed with this oven and regret the purchase. The interior is grey which we hadn’t really thought about when we bought it but what we have found is that it shows every single mark and is absolute nightmare to clean. Bosch say that you can wipe it out with hot soapy water which is definitely not the case. I have tried wiping it after every use and it doesn’t remove stains. I have left Oven Pride cleaner (normally swear by this stuff) soaking on it all day and the stains remain despite scrubbing. The grill is so slow to heat as well and the racks are awkward which means I am constantly burning my hands. Actually contemplating having to replace it after 7 months. It’s not fit for purpose. Do not buy.

    Disappointing

Bought during lockdown when there was no possibility of seeing the appliance before purchase. 1) The top oven is tiny! Because of the design of the racks, it is very difficult to get more than one shelf in at a time. What if you want to cook 2 pizzas in there while you are using the bottom oven? And if you want to use it to keep some of your cooked dishes warm while, say, you crisp up your roast potatoes in the bottom oven, there's very little space. With a rack on the lowest level, you have only 10cm space above it, but you still have 4.5cm wasted space below it! It would have been easy to add a couple more shelf heights to the rails. Also, with all previous ovens I've used, the wire rack sits flush with the grill tray underneath - they sit on the same rail. With this oven, the rack sits proud of the tray, so the tray uses one rail and the rack the next one up. Ridiculous. 2) The main oven doesn't cook that evenly, as is claimed. Flapjacks, bread and duchesse potatoes have all come out browned on one side. 3) The timer beeper is soooooooo quiet! If you are in the kitchen with the radio on, it is super easy to miss the finish. Again, it is quieter than on any oven I've ever used. You could set the oven so it turns itself off after the required time, in case you miss the beeper, but this idea doesn't work. Do you want to leave your sponge in the oven for an extra ten minutes after the oven has turned itself off? Of course not, it will dry out. 4) All my ovens so far have had the great little timer where you turn the knob and in a flash you can set anything from 1 to 60-odd minutes. Superb! I was not looking forward to giving that up with the new oven as my parent's (different brand) has touch-sensitive buttons like this Bosch and it is a disaster. Fortunately on this oven the buttons are perfectly sensitive enough. But the system is less user friendly. When you've cooked your pasta for 10 minutes and it needs another minute, you select the timer and is automatically selects 5 or 10 minutes to start with (depending on whether you've used the + or - button). You have to press the button a total of 10 times to select 1 minute. Yes, you can set the timer to half-minute intervals, whoopee-doo, but it's too complicated. One the positive side, the oven does seem good quality, as you would expect. There aren't lots of complicated programmes, which for me is great. The selectors are fairly easy to grasp and the markings allow you to set the temperature quite accurately - I would say you could set degree by degree if you wanted to. You do have to look for the little marker on the side of the knob to get it accurate, as any parallax makes setting from the front difficult. Once again, a little tweak in design would have allowed the mark on the knob to be right next to the temperature markings on the oven, without having to look at it sideways. Overall, if you want two properly useful ovens, don't buy this. But if you just need a quality oven at a good price and can put up with some annoying niggles, get these while you can.

    Disappointed

Have had this oven 5 months now Can’t complain about the way it cooks, seems to do the job fine My issue is how stained it is. From the beginning the sides have been ruined. Nightmare to clean. Totally regret getting this. When I contacted Bosch was told to unscrew the racks at the side & use washing up liquid & water. Yeah right.

    Cleaning nightmare

Had this oven for over a month, agree with others about the timer, far to quiet & alert only last a few seconds. The performance of the oven so far as good. However my main issue is cleaning the oven. It’s is heavily stained. Used the grill twice & spent over an hour trying to clean it still can’t get the marks off the sides. The main oven is the same. My last oven had self clean sides, this is all ceramic type marks heavily. So disappointed

Fabulous quality oven 5 ***** plus

This the best oven we have had, quality bosch product It's quiet when on and cooks evenly across all the shelves perfectly. We took out the extended warranty which increased the exceptional 2 year warranty to 5yrs which we thought was a great value for money extra from a quality manufacturer. The oven comes with 3 racks and a shelf in comparison to 2 racks from other suppliers. I honestly can't rate it highly enough for the money, so much so we got my parents single oven by bosch straight away after having ours. It's more money up front but the quality is exceptional

    Control knobs could be better

Oven works well - it does what it supposed to and it is easy to use. We wanted a Bosch but didn't want the functions for cooking specific dishes (like pizzas) that the more expensive models in the range have. The only gripe we have is that we had expected the knobs on the fascia to depress in and lock out of the way, as they do on the more expensive models. On this model they don't . Also, and more irritatingly, because of their circular shape and degree of stiffness to turn, they are not as easy to use as we might have liked. You have to grip them quite hard, which isn't easy with wet or greasy fingers. They also look a bit cheap, which lets down the overall appearance.

    Promising but...

I so wanted to give this 5 stars but circumstances dictate otherwise. Delivery and fitting were certainly 5 star, the use instructions are clear and simple. Let down by a couple of things, the oven temperature settings are difficult to read between the main 50 degree settings. This could be the location not near a window for light but in my opinion, they're just too faint. The shelves in the main over really need do kind of stop bar on them to stop them resting against, and marking, the self cleaning panel at the rear. Have to push them in carefully and leave a little gap at the back. Now for the MAJOR gripe. Having followed the instructions carefully about heating before first use to clear any manufacturing residue, the first time I needed to use both ovens because of different temperatures, the inner glass window on the top oven exploded. When I say "exploded" I mean just that. A really loud bang and glass scattered all over the kitchen (including the food prepared ready to go in the oven)!! Obviously reported to customer services the next working day (16 Sep). Engineer visit booked for 7 Oct! Not exactly what one would expect for sorting a brand new appliance!

Very efficient oven. Heats up quickly, cooks quickly and produces excellent results.
