    Great all-rounder!

    4/5
The Acer Aspire 5 A515-48M really surprised me with how well it handles multiple demanding tasks. I've been using the version with the AMD Ryzen 7 processor, and it’s been a beast for multitasking. I can have a ton of Chrome tabs open, work on big Excel files, and even bounce between Photoshop and Premiere Pro without it breaking a sweat. With 16GB of RAM (and the fact that I can upgrade it if I want to), it’s been a dream for running everything from virtual machines to development software. Plus, the SSD makes everything feel super snappy, so loading big files or launching apps happens really fast. When it comes to gaming, it's pretty solid too. I wasn't expecting much since it’s not marketed as a gaming laptop, but it handles popular games on medium settings without any issues. It doesn’t get too hot either, although the fans do get a bit loud if I’m really pushing it with something like video rendering or playing a more intense game. Battery life is decent, but it definitely takes a hit when I’m pushing it hard with lots of apps or games. I usually get around 5-6 hours, which isn’t bad for what I’m asking it to do. Overall, the Acer Aspire 5 A515-48M has been a great choice for me. It’s got the power to handle everything I throw at it, whether I’m working, gaming, or just juggling a bunch of stuff at once.

Solid build quality with a premium feel.

    5/5
This laptop has been very performant and quick for the past weeks. It handles CPU intensive workloads very well, keeping relatively low temperatures even on AC power. On battery, the fans are almost entirely silent, and are barely audible in quiet areas. The general build quality is very solid, with no sorts of bending or creaks during my use. The materials used do not grip your skin enough to feel uncomfortable when using the trackpad or typing, which is a big plus to help with long sessions. Typing on the keyboard feels responsive and tactile while still being relatively quiet, as long as you are not slamming your fingers down onto the keys. The rubber feet at the bottom of the laptop raise the laptop a fair amount, which helps with airflow to keep the laptop cool, and in turn let the fans run low or on zero rpm which greatly reduces the sound of the fans. When putting in headphones, the fan sound is entirely gone. The ports on the sides feel very nice to us. When plugging things in, there is a tactile bump that helps you tell if your device is properly connected.

    Brilliant Purchase

    5/5
This laptop is a bargain at the price. Its high spec means that it happily runs Windows 11 (which is a significant improvement over Windows 10) and handles multiple browsers, office and other applications concurrently with no obvious impact on performance. I opted for the silver/grey version which is very classy. I thoroughly recommend this product 5* all round.

    so far so good

    3/5
too early to say really. Well packaged. Looks OK albeit going from a 17" laptop it is considerably smaller, so we'll see how that goes. It has taken ages to setup (but it was a case of set a task running and go off and do something else) and does force you down some personalisation of linking Microsoft and/or Google accounts etc which, as it'll be a shared family laptop, is not ideal. Time will tell if it'll last as long as the Asus it replaces - ~9 years before that got too painful and unworkable!

    Acer review

    5/5
I’ve been using the laptop for approximately one week so limited experience at this time. But it is very fast, set up was easy. Windows 11 is not compatible with my old printer so I’ll have to buy one.

This is to replace my previous Acer Laptop. It is great, so much faster than previous one, which was over 7 years old.
