    Acceptable Laptop

    3/5
Well made laptop with a nice backlit keyboard. So good first impression. However, the touch pad lets it down. It is slow to react and is frequently hesitant. This can make it very annoying to use. I think I will have to invest in a wireless mouse ! I am a fairly 'average' type of user and I find it comparable in speed/performance to my previous 'I5' based laptop with the same amount of RAM. So again, a little disappointing.

    so far so good

too early to say really. Well packaged. Looks OK albeit going from a 17" laptop it is considerably smaller, so we'll see how that goes. It has taken ages to setup (but it was a case of set a task running and go off and do something else) and does force you down some personalisation of linking Microsoft and/or Google accounts etc which, as it'll be a shared family laptop, is not ideal. Time will tell if it'll last as long as the Asus it replaces - ~9 years before that got too painful and unworkable!

    Great all-rounder!

The Acer Aspire 5 A515-48M really surprised me with how well it handles multiple demanding tasks. I've been using the version with the AMD Ryzen 7 processor, and it’s been a beast for multitasking. I can have a ton of Chrome tabs open, work on big Excel files, and even bounce between Photoshop and Premiere Pro without it breaking a sweat. With 16GB of RAM (and the fact that I can upgrade it if I want to), it’s been a dream for running everything from virtual machines to development software. Plus, the SSD makes everything feel super snappy, so loading big files or launching apps happens really fast. When it comes to gaming, it's pretty solid too. I wasn't expecting much since it’s not marketed as a gaming laptop, but it handles popular games on medium settings without any issues. It doesn’t get too hot either, although the fans do get a bit loud if I’m really pushing it with something like video rendering or playing a more intense game. Battery life is decent, but it definitely takes a hit when I’m pushing it hard with lots of apps or games. I usually get around 5-6 hours, which isn’t bad for what I’m asking it to do. Overall, the Acer Aspire 5 A515-48M has been a great choice for me. It’s got the power to handle everything I throw at it, whether I’m working, gaming, or just juggling a bunch of stuff at once.

Better than expected, considering it's lower memory than old laptop is a lot faster and responsive, can have a good few python scripts running and various apps at same time , light weight sturdy . Great performance.

    Ace performance from an Acer.

Have spent the past week transferring all my data from my old Toshiba to the new PC. So far i am very pleased with the performance of the PC and the very crisp colours on the display. Have had to buy a multi port extension as there are only a limited number of USB ports. Will need to purchase a USB DVD drive at some point. Otherwise very pleased.
