    NEW COFFEE MACHINE

    5/5
Recently, my veteran coffee machine gave up the ghost due to longevity. Haveing looked at the miriad of marketed replacements I settled on the Swan Retro on offer. How glad I am that I did! My wife recently completed a course of treatment for cervical cancer and suffered chemo therapy, radio therapy, bracca therapy, followed by a complete hysterectomy and a second (short) dose of chemo therapy - I should add that she's 80 years old, but is now fit and well and running around. One of the things that she has fallen for is a mid-morning cup of coffee, mind you none of your de-caff, or instant stuff. She wants a black strong cup of freshly ground coffee beans and absolutely refuses to forego it. This small Swan machine does the job perfectly and produces a delicious cup of coffee every time. One small peculiarity is that new owners will need to practice a bit with it to get it just right, i.e. cups properly warmed, liquid flowing steadily through the filter, and making sure that there is sufficient coffee in the cup, finally, DO NOT DROWN IT WITH FROTHED MILK. You only need about three quarters coffee to one-quarter milk for a delightful morning (or any other time of day) cuppa coffee.

    Entry level review and user

    4/5
This is my first espresso machine so not sure what to expect and apologies if my expectations are too low/high. The instructions that come with it are great, telling you how to prep the machine and use the espresso maker and foamer, even include advice on cappuccino, latte, americano and how to make flat/white milk. The machine is easy to clean and relatively quiet when running, even when warming up. For an entry level machine I think it's pretty good. The only thing that lets it down a bit is the 'good to go' lights go off when processing espresso or steam so not sure if the temperature is consistent. All in all I'm happy with it when comparing prices to others and my own expectation levels. I've used pod machines and a Moka previously but prefer this for taste, cost effectiveness and control over how I make my coffee.

    Cafes are better.

This product is essentially a waste of money. It looks the business, it will brew a cup of coffee, but will it be fit to drink? I would thus suggest that you don’t buy this product. Save up and buy an expensive product that actually is worth using. Or nip down to your local cafe. Sincerely David Hearle

Excellent Easy To Use Retro Style Expresso Machine

    5/5
I am very pleased with my new Swan Retro Expresso Coffee Machine. It is so easy to use and makes excellent coffee every time. It needs to be flushed through with hot water before making coffee for the first time. This is to get rid of any odours that can be present, since manufactures testing. You will notice that the water coming through from the flushing is slightly tinted and eventually it will come thtough crystal clear. Always make sure you keep the water tank beween maximum and low level and always give it a quck flush through with hot water before making your next coffee. This will ensure that your coffee will be at the right temperature when you make your next cup. I prefer to use coffee beans, rather than ready ground coffee, but you need a decent burr grinder to be able to grind your beans on a fine setting, if you want a good expresso. For Latte, Flat White or Cappachino, you can use ready ground coffee, but self ground coffee will give better results. Always make sure you clean tour machine after use, by doing a quick flush through with hot water and make sure you keep the milk frothing wand clean after heating milk, by wiping it with a damp cloth to remove any milk that will appear on the outside of the wand and blow it through with hot steam to keep the nozzle clear. It might not be the best Expresso Coffee Machine on the market, but it is certainly a good machine for the money. This is definitely a good buy and with a good choice of colours to choose from, so you can match it to suit your kitchens decor. The retro look of this machine, really makes it stand out above the rest of the machines of the market. All in all, a very good coffee maker, pleasing to look at and so easy to use.

    Great little machine...does the job.

Heats quickly and does exactly what it' suppose to. Not given it 5 because normal mugs won't fit, so had to by a slightly smaller mug to fit under the granule sump.
