So far so good

I bought this to replace a Samsung Galaxy S2. The only reason for replacing it was the Android version was slowly losing it's ability to run everyday apps like chrome, firefox etc. Software updates making hardware obsolete Bah! Anyway this is a bit faster, sort of similar UI and I can get all the old apps I had so I don't have to worry about learning too much new stuff. I like the fingerprint unlock and the camera seems OK (just use it for odd snaps of things like meter readings). I couldn't transfer the ringtones from the S2 and the standard ones are a bit artificial and hard on the ear. Also having chosen an MP3 it plays the entire track whereas the S2 cropped it after 20 or so seconds. If you want to ignore it, it can be annoying. I've trimmed the tracks down to a few seconds now. The screen is nice and bright, better than the S2 and the auto brightness seems to work well. Touching the contacts rings the contact too easily, I liked the slide left for text, slide right for call on the S2, much more positive. With my level of use the battery is lasting 3 days down to about 20%. The lack of a dedicated back key takes a bit of getting used to. Rather than just pressing it without sight, you have to look at where on the screen it is. Mostly the same place but occasionally somewhere else and if you press in the most used spot something is activated. Biggest bugbear is to do with the various background stuff that wants to help and defaults to sending data to help them help you. I'd prefer not and it means looking through settings each time. The slider switches are not properly labelled so you don't know which side is enabled or disabled. So whilst I appreciate these features are there to make it easy finding your data has turned itself on, or GPS, or sound or... is something I'd rather positively control myself. Probably an android issue rather than phone but some of the Huawei apps are particularly bad at not doing anything unless you let them tell the world what you are doing. I don't feel the need to share how many steps I take each day. I have bought a case and screen protector in line with previous comments about being fragile but not yet dropped it to find out if it is. Lastly if any designer is out there I would have preferred a smaller phone, the S2 was much more portable. Even though this one is smaller than many ( a reason for choosing it) it is still 30% heavier and probably 30% longer so doesn't fit in the pocket as well. Other small phones had compromise on performance or were twice the price.

Great phone for a small price.

I had read a few reviews about this phone, and they are about right. If you want a nice phone at a small cost this is a great choice. I normally have flagship phones, but cost-cutting meant I went with this one. I'm happy so far, granted it won't be the fastest and not as well built as more expensive phones (i.e. I wouldn't want to drop it in a puddle like I could my old Sony). But the screen is lovely, and its nice and responsive. The area where you do notice the slow processor is when opening up the camera, sometimes it can take an age, which is a pain if trying to get a quick snap, and the quality of the photos are not ideal in low light, but for everyday scenarios it is fine. I would definitely buy again.

Pros: Cost, Screen, Finger print reader Cons: Slow to open camera

Excellent Vaue

Easy to use out of the box and surprisingly straightforward to transfer data from existing but broken (screen) device without the need for PC or Laptop. It looks classy, is packed with features and, as a low data and call user, it's great when combined with a never expires PAYG sim.

Great phone for the price

I have been really pleased with the Honor 9 lite. The cameras are nice and sharp, finger recognition is fast and I've enjoyed all of the options available to personalise the interface. Only draw back is it can be a little laggy every now and again, but this doesn't happen frequently so it isn't a deal breaker. You won't get a better phone for the price!

Pros: Good Cameras , Good looks, Fast finger recognition, Totally personalisable Cons: Can lag every now and again

Nice phone, great camera

Bought this phone for my son and I am thoroughly impressed with it. It looks great in blue and is slim and light. Build quality seems fine except lack of Gorilla Glass which is why I’m only giving 4 stars. The glass issue was easily sorted out with a glass screen protector that cost about £6. The phone seems to work quickly and classic apps such Instagram look great on the large screen. It also connects well to the internet over the phone network even in areas where other family phones have failed. The real star of the show is the camera though. The pictures have a lovely clarity and the colours are deep. The images are also not too ‘flat’ looking as some smart phone pictures are. All in all a highly recommendable phone for the money - just remember to buy a screen protector.
