Excellent quality product

5/5
You get what you pay for with Kitchenaid, and this product is absolutely worth the extra cost compared to cheaper options. It looks smart, has top quality components and boils extremely quickly.

Stylish but sounds like a microwave!

4/5
I'll start off with the main bugbear of this KitchenAid product as it could be a dealbreaker for some people. The manufacturers have added a beep, quite similar to the beep a microwave emits. The kettle beeps when it is set down on the base - I have no idea why this is necessary. Once it has boiled it beeps three times. The beep is quite loud and had I have had this during my children's infancy I would have been cursing the noise even more so. If anything there should only be a beep emitted to tell you the kettle is low on water or it is overfilled and it would serve a function of sorts. Other than that, it is an extremely stylish kettle with the added bonus of an LED-lit temperature selector, from 50C to 100C for a variety of beverages. Since it automatically goes back to 100C at each use, I expect that in time I will just keep using 100C, rather than switching it up. The chrome effect handle has a soft-grip and the open-lid button is made of soft-grip material too which often needs a good solid press to allow the lip to flip open. The chrome effect of this kettle appears to mark easily, but nothing a soft damp cloth and a buff with a microfibre polishing cloth can't fix. All in all, aside from the noise, it is a well-built, attractive addition to my kitchen.

Good, but needs silencing

3/5
This is a great kettle, which goes well with the toaster and mixer we have, but someone made a big mistake when they added in the most annoying beeping sound ever created by mankind. When you put the kettle on the base it beeps. When the water has boiled you get a triple beep. Its the kind of beep that penetrates to the centre of your soul. After 3 days I have to do something about it so I googled it and found I was not the only one with a hatred of the beep. I found a blog post where some kind soul posted a step by step guide on how to remove the beep (by actually pulling it out of the kettle's circuit board). 5 minutes later - I have the (beepless) kettle I'd always dreamed of! KitchedAid should either remove the buzzer or upgrade it to a nicer sounding one AND provide the abilty to turn it off - without having to resort to warranty invalidating surgery!
