Makes tea so you don't have to.

5/5
I was expecting a lot from this product and it actually delivered that and more. The first thing that stuck me is that it actually comes with a crucial accessory that so many manufacturers forget to provide - a tea spoon measure lol. The basket, magnetic rise and fall, does a fantastic job at brewing the leaves since it is more than big enough to hold as much as you want and the keep warm function is brilliant as it does indeed keep tea at the required temperature - Sencha will be kept at 70, Turkish tea at 90 and breakfast at 95 so it is still fresh and hot when you go back for more. The timer function? again it works brilliantly and hasn't failed me yet. It's a pricey thing at first glance but it does work and it does what it says flawlessly. It's fully adjustable in terms of temperatures and brew times so you can make any tea you like in it, even Sencha (infact for sencha it takes away a lot of the hassle involved where you need to get temperature to drop by pouring boiled water from cup to cup before brewing). If you like tea and want to upgrade from frankly awful teabags to the finer stuff then this is a gadget you should consider. As some might point out you do get brown 'staining' on the insides which is just natural tannin from the leaves and it comes off wither with lemon juice or your monthly descale. I use lemon juice on a dish sponge and it takes all of 30 seconds to wipe it all down inside so its gleaming again. Try it, join the teavolution, it will change how you think about tea!

A very nice cup of tea

5/5
The Tea Maker is simple to use and obviates the need for a separate kettle, teapot and strainer. Once used, it holds the temperature and brewing time settings but appears unable to hold other settings such as time of day. This has to be re-set each time the Tea Maker is used. Otherwise, fill it, for example, the night before and simply switch it on when you want it and it will be ready in no time at all. The only thing that could be improved is the keep warm temperature which seems to be set at 80 degrees C. There might be a reason for this, but 90 degrees C would seem better.

Variable Temperature Control is a Winner

4/5
The Sage By Heston Blumenthal Tea Maker can really open your eyes to how tea should be made. Not because of the automatic basket system but because of the variable temperature control feature. For black tea this isn't really important because black tea should be made at 100° but for green teas you should really make them at 80°. Once you have tasted green tea at 80° you will never go back. For black tea drinkers I don't feel this product will really blow you away as for me the tea tastes exactly the same if you use the same tea leaves (you can get full tea leaves in bag form). The lowering mechanism works well but is a bit of a gimmick. The Sage Tea Maker is very simple to use and I doubt many people would struggle especially thanks to it's helpful user manual. It's pretty quiet when boiling and has a nice loud beep when the tea is ready to consume. It does have a keep warm feature but this isn't really useful because tea that has been kept warm gets significantly stronger the longer you leave it even when tea leaves are removed. One feature I really do like is the auto start facility. This allows you to set a time to when you'd like tea to be made. This allows you to have a hot cup of tea waiting for you when you get out of bed in the morning. As a person who can't function until I have a cuppa in my hand this is very useful. There are big limitations when it comes to making tea with this product however. You cannot make any less than 2 cups at any one time. Therefore if you're the only person who want's a cup of tea at any one time then you would need to waste tea leaves unless you use the water only feature and that defeats the object a main part of the product. Also depending on the size of cups you use it can only make 4 full cups of tea per brew (1500ml) which is a shame. I did notice some odd brown staining (not tea stains) upon initially cleaning the product. It did get removed after some lemon cleaning but it did come back after subsequent water boils. I'm not really sure what it is but it doesn't seem to affect the taste of the tea. For people who like teas that require temperatures other than 100° I would recommend this product if you tend to make more than 1 cup at a time. After using this product I realized I've been making green tea wrong all these years and I will never go back. For black tea drinkers who don't have an interest in other teas I'd say maybe this product isn't for you in my opinion.

Excellent tea

Ever since a previous tea maker died on me I've been seeking a good replacement. I've now found it.
